I am spending a couple of weeks in the Canadian Rockies camping with our big trailer which is being used for road trips until my vintage trailer is finished. So beautiful here and we have done many 10 mile hikes up into remote parts of the mountains. Here are a couple of stupid things we have seen... - A family on the highway trying to pat the wild rams in the first photo. -A family driving a rental RV using their water hose to rinse out the black sewer hose after it was drained. (They shoved it about two feet up into the dirty sewer hose), then went to the side of the trailer and immediately used the same hose to fill the fresh water tank! Aaahhh! - Many people dropping $$$$ cameras into the water as they tried to walk across a pile of floating logs to get a good photo of a lake. Ignoring the five people before them who just fell in! - A guy spray painting his and his girlfriends names into trees in a national park, in red spray paint so everyone will know they are in love. - Meeting up with families about 5 miles into a ten mile hike up a mountain where the ladies are wearing high heels and no one has any water, rain gear, or food. -International tourists asking when the Bears will be out for feeding time so that they can feed them! There have been four separate bear attacks in the park since we got here. It makes it sound dangerous but the truth is that the most unpredictable and dangerous creatures in the park are the humans! I hope you are all having a great summer!

Today I started scraping off the residue of the tar on my trailer roof. I had it down to 1/8 inch with my multi tool but did not want to go further than that. So I went to Home Depot and bought acetone, methyl hydrate, and paint thinner. I didn't want to use gasoline due to the smell in the shared garage space I am using. An hour later I was making very small progress. It was coming off with tons of elbow grease.
Then I had an epiphany ... I remembered all my artificial nails falling off when I got baby oil on them. So I thought "why not try it?". Well I almost fell off the ladder when I squirted it on the first patch of tar and it came right off! Just like peeling off a layer of butter! And only $1.00 per bottle at the dollar store!
Maybe I can repackage it and sell it to the Facebook Glampers!
Anyway... Try it yourself and see!

Looks OK to me. Be sure that your runners are all the way over the edge, that gives you the most support. I often use just plywood. Depends on how heavy the roof person is... Hmmm... I'll go on a diet! Lol

I would do an online search to start. There are a few wholesalers online or places with reasonable prices. Try fabric.com to start and see what they are selling for and then keep searching. Put in Sunbrella wholesale into your search. It retails for around $25 a yard so if you can get it for $20-$15 it's a good price

Hi Dk 81 I am the upholster. If you are going to bother redoing the seats I would recommend buying new materials as you will sit on them a lot and putting new fabric over smelly foam is not a guarantee it won't smell. Even if there is a layer of plastic. Suzy is right we use the plastic to help fit the cushions. A few thoughts on your project. -if a shop can't do piping I wouldn't give them my project. Every commercial machine has a piping foot. If he says he doesn't then he is making excuses and lacks skills. If you have sprung cushions now a skilled upholster can return them. Very seldom are they unfixable. Again if the upholster lacks the skills he may be pushing you onto something else. I would price out buying the foam wholesale online, plus buying the fabric or vinyl online and then get a labour price. Upholstered mark up all fabric by double what they paid. If they paid $10 a yard they charge you $20. I can't comment on sleeping in sprung seats as to comfort but if you are going to be sleeping on them don't scrimp on supplies. As to vinyl vs. fabric its personal preference. Vinyl is spill proof but sticky when hot to sit on. You can get a great Sunbrella fabric that is water resistant and scotch guard it too. Find someone skilled to do the work, cushions should be fat, and have no wrinkles. They should have 1-2 layers of Dacron fiber on top of the foam for fullness. Ask me any more questions you have

I have changed my name twice and finally settled on "Starlight Motel" with a vintage hotel logo to go with my starburst theme inside

Don't wait for the last seconds of the auction. Use e-snipe. I use it all the time. You enter your top bid for the item and it waits till the last 6 seconds and begins to bid for you. No one can bid as fast as a computer proxy bidder. There are lots out there but e-snipe is the best. Google it. I have won every auction I have bid on where my bid was high enough, plus using e-snipe can trick the other bidder into thinking no one else is bidding so the price stays down. It costs I think .25 cents per transaction and is a fantastic tool. I have won so may items for my trailer using it. Google e-snipe to find it. They give you a few free transactions to start you out ... Good luck
