I don't know where I got this photo. It may be someone on here, but I am wondering if the type of platform shown in the photo is correct for me getting up on the roof. Does it distribute the weight enough? I like this idea because I have some 3/4 inch plywood already that size and I am thinking that I can also clamp them down as a scaffold between two ladders for working for long periods along the top edge. (I spent two hours scraping tar today while alternately balancing on one foot on the ladder. Not cool). Funny I just noticed that the guy in the photo is also using a multi-tool to scrape his roof! Let me know.. SaveSaveSaveSaveSaveSave

Looks OK to me. Be sure that your runners are all the way over the edge, that gives you the most support. I often use just plywood. Depends on how heavy the roof person is...

I would add some 2x4's to the ends of your platform to allow the "cat walk" to have the weight over the side walls. it looks like the roof of your camper as a nice crown in it.

As shown in my video on the subject you need the platform to be at least an inch or two above the highest point of the roof. Your weight will bend the two by fours a bit and you don't want them to be touching the roof material. Also I would use two separate pieces of plywood so you can move around better and get out of your own way. If you have a third two by four on blocks up there with you, you can move forward or backwards without having to get down on a ladder. Here it is again..

I love the quick tip videos! This is super helpful. mobiltec have you made one that shows how to string up the roof into the rafters? That will be my next task after the vents are out..

Ya they are a lot easier than typing. That's why I started doing them. Now if only some thankful viewers would send in some donations on my website. www.cannedhamtrailers.com Then I could go fishing maybe LOL... This is in the old Deville series. Then in the second video I think I show a bit better frame work but instead of lifting it up and hanging it we put it on some saw horses. This was the Colorado job I did.
