I started out with 2 golf cart type. Later switched to AGM. Recently splurged on a 100ah lithium rated for cold weather. I love this thing. 1/3 the weight, 1/2 the space, available power equals the 2 6v, charges faster, blue tooth to your phone to tell you details. But they are pricey. Got it to use in pick up camper when not towing. So light I just swap it back and forth.

Haven’t been here in a long time but still kicking and camping in the old Traveleze i rebuilt with all your help. Awhile back I had to replace the whole axel to wheel system due to a problem that occurred on a trip far from home. New axel a dexter 3500lb with the drop and slight camber. Soon after, I put axel under spring to get more clearance using the kit from etrailer. Tires were wearing excessively on outside. Got new tires and being very careful on pressure did a couple more trips. After 3k miles noticed outside waring again. Current opinion is that the trailer is not quite heavy enough to flatten out axel so camber is still off. Just looked at a similar old trailer and original axel is straight. Maybe that’s the fix? Opinions appreciated, thanks.

Does anyone have a suggestion for putting a refer light inside my 3 way? Maybe battery power? Any way to switch it when the door opens? I also need one in the cabinet under the sink, though wiring this would be much easier. Thanks

How’s everyone. I haven’t been here for quite awhile. I guess my 62 traveleze is a toaster if it has to have a category, but I really don’t care, and no ones ever criticized it for not being a “ham”. We just returned from a weeks camping on the north CA coast. We were in a campground with maybe 2 dozen campers, surrounded by large shiny models, most of which aren’t as old as the covid vaccine, except one neighbor with a 70’s something. We had a nice visit the first day. A few days later another guy walks by and when I said hi, he came over and said the rumor all around camp was I had the nicest trailer in the campground. Felt good. Hope you all are getting some good camping in.

I’ll try Rod. Haven’t posted pics in a long time and will probably have to set up account again. Headed out on a road trip to AZ Monday but will get a pic up when I can.

I finished the axel change a couple days ago and did a test run yesterday, testing it over a couple big swales in our gravel road a it’s a huge improvement. Also, no real noticeable difference out on the highway. Should get me in to a few more fishing spots.

Thanks both very much. I like the idea of moving the axel below the springs. I recently replaced axel, springs, wheels and brakes with as close to stock sizing as I could. So getting it apart again should be quick and clean. Thanks again.

I know the answer may already be in here somewhere, but what are the options to get more ground clearance. Thanks. Hopefully everyone here is well.

Hi joe, sorry I just saw your question. Yes, I think the book would help. Another source I used was the company I purchased materials from. It’s AM Solar in Oregon. All they do is rv solar.

A book I’ve learned a lot from is “managing 12 volts” available at vts or amazon. There is a lot of solar info there too. I’m a big fan of solar and have my camper set up with it. If you want solar maybe in the future, I’d suggest making sure your battery system is large enough. One rule of thumb is one amp hour storage for one watt at the solar panel. For example, I have two 100w panels for 200 watts, and two 6v golf cart batteries wired for 12 volts that provide a little over 200 amp hours of storage. At times it’s a little overkill, but we can boondock for days, no problem. I have the 3 way fridge and like it. It’s a real pig on 12 volt but my panels will run it daytime in good sun, and on long road days, but we mostly run it propane, which seems to work even better than 120v, and the fuel use is minimal. There are very good 12 volt batteries out there, but in my opinion, avoid the cheap “rv/marine” type at Walmart. These aren’t true deep storage type. Some here probably do ok with them though. You need to calculate your worst case amp hour use per day, times how long your out, add a little extra, and that will tell you your storage needs. And you only use off the top of the capacity. And one more note. The portable type panels are real nice and have gotten much more affordable lately.

My experience with shark bite is great, when used in my house and cabin, and pex to pex in my trailer. They are sold at Contractor plumbing supply outlets all over. I did just learn something about pex. There is an A grade, probably only available at that type of the supply. It is far superior to the pex sold at the hardware or Home Depot type stores. The A grade is used in the expansion type fittings, as opposed to the crimp type sold in hardware stores. The B grade will not recover near as well as the A. Especially after freezing, I’ve been told ( by a supplier in Montana).
