Tonight I got the tail light wiring run, tacked down the wires on the outside of the camper, and stared putting the strips on the edge but found that I need to cut some more plywood strips.

Well with snow on the ground and her car windows needing to be scraped every morning, I have lots of pressure to get the camper out of the garage. I have the sides insulated and started putting the wood strips on the edges. Happy wife happy life, isn't that what they say. 20201026_211040 by Tom Ress, on Flickr

Tonight I finished gluing the insulation down and wrapping the camper in tyvex. I also got hold of my storage guy and he is ready for the camper. I just need to pull the camper out when I can take it to storage in the same day. I will need to pull it out and put the axle and tires back on and pull it over. I can then give the garage back to the wife. 20201103_200115 by Tom Ress, on Flickr

This may have been covered somewhere on this excellent thread. But when you're done do you have to pull off the frame and slide the camper out the way it went in? Or just the axle as you stated above? What if you added 1/2"?

Right now the axle is off and it is sitting on some dollies and the angle iron. I will lower it to the ground and see if I added any additional height. (I hope note because the original tin will not fit then) So if it is taller I have a couple of options. First remove the rubber seal strip. That will give me .5 of an inch. Second I could remove the cedar trim board and that would give me another .75 of an inch. I will put some 1x2 or 1x3 on the driveway and try and get them to take most of the load once I get it off the smooth garage floor.

It is official. The camping season is over for me as well as working on the camper body. Here you can see the camper making its first road trip to storage. I got lots of looks as I was driving this one down the road. It came out of the garage without an issue. I must have planned it well. Screenshot_20201108-133336_Snapchat by Tom Ress, on Flickr Posts will slow down now since I will most likely be polishing parts and doing other prep work for next year.

Thanks. This is a great thread. Your photo reminds me of when you see a photo of a new car driving around with all types of masking decals when a manufacturer tests drives a car. People were probably saying, "Hey I bet that's one of those new Retro Shastas I have heard about" Have a good winter.

Since I had nothing better to do I pulled the windows, eye brows, and interior window frames out of the shed and started cleaning them.
I got the windows taken apart and the 60 year old butyl tape off. After 60 years most of it was still flexible and soft. This is why I like using butyl tape because it stays soft for a long time.
I started cleaning the eye brows. I had to do quite a bit of work on straightening and reshaping from all the dings and dents they got over the years.
I probably got another 40 hours of work of cleaning and polishing. Great winter project.

Shastatom, was your vinyl flooring click lock? How was it secured in place? I was trying to send a PM on here but I couldn’t figure out how.

Can’t wait to see the progress. The wife and I are still making arrangements to come see you in the near future.
