Hi Larry, I too have a 1975 Scotty Serro. It was a total demo, start from scratch,Frame up. I have been working on it for about 2 years off and on (time and money). I too spend more time looking and thinking than actual work. You always have to think 5 steps ahead because one action can effect something down the line. You can do it, just be patient and take lots of pictures and measurements. I will say that a few drinks during the process works as well.

Yes, Southeast part.....I'm not sure anyone knows the law. I have proceeded with my rebuild and will go with the Home built title as a last resort. Mine is total frame off rebuild.

Shea2288, In Kansas, I was told that if you are rebuilding from frame up. If you show proof of a new hitch or axle, the state will grant you a "Homebuilt title". The only problem is you will be paying taxes on 2016 trailer versus the actual year. I was also told that any trailer under 2,000 lbs does not require a title or tag...... Lastly, I was told that if the trailer is older than 30 yrs. They will honor a title/tag with just a bill of sale...... This all came out of the same office from different clerks. I am waiting to here how this plays out. I too have the name of the last owner of record, but have not been able to locate him. I have talked to a couple Highway Patrolman and they both said they never bother looking at trailers under 20' because they thought they fall under the 2,000 lbs and are not required to have a tag....... I'm not sure anyone knows at this point.

danrhodes, did you coat the whole exterior side or just the bottom? And what did you use to coat the board? Thanks, Poquito I believe it was Kirkadie that gave me the idea to use this product from Tractor Supply. I painted the area that I routed and will probably use it around the outer edges and windows since I have a full gallon left. I also used it on my frame and under the floor. Seems to be a great product when it sets up. Time will tell........

I didn't change my wheel wells. That is why I had to rout out that area to keep the original width of the trailer with 1/2" ply. So, all the black area has been routed out from the 3/4" ply to make it 1/2" ply........if that makes any scence?

I used 3/4" Birch ply from Menards. I then routed out the areas that fit around the wheel wells and where it attached to the floor. I also routed out a place for a spline on the verticle joints. My Scotty was held together with just wide staples and glue for the verticle joints. Just another idea. I too did not like the 1975 blonde paneling and wanted to go with a more vintage look.

Vikx, Thanks for the response. That all makes sense. I do have someone that is good with electrical. I am just being impatient and trying to get a jump start on stuff before he can come help. I have never messed with 12 volt(or a converter), so I am just a little unsure of myself (second guessing). Thanks again.

I am not the greatest with schematics..... I was hoping someone had a "dumbed down" version. I did find the schematics and will try to figure them out.
Thanks

Does anyone have a wiring diagram for a 45 amp Magnetek Power converter? This is probably over kill for my Scotty, but it was given to me out of a working 80's model RV being parted out. Any help would be Great!
And this as well........or is this necessary?

Totally understand where everyone is coming from. I am still in the process of my frame off Scotty rebuild. So, I know all too well the $$$ issue. I am also one of those people who is looking for the next challenge. This is one of my "Dream Trailers" even thow it is bigger than most desire. I guess, that's why I have the Scotty.........So, the dilemma continues

Found this at a salvage yard. It has been gutted and there are some holes in the skin. I am sure it is a Spartanette 24' single axle. The question is, "Is it too far gone?"
