Guess what I got done?
I got another coat of shellac on and the first coat of shellac on the rest of the door fronts. It has been a bit of a slow going. I much rather shellac new walls then old walls. I also would rather shellac with the walls down in the driveway vs up in the camper.
Next year when I start the 59 shasta I think I may go back to a frame off restoration with new wood. I guess we will see when I get the metal off.

It has been slow going since my last post. My back hurts, my legs hurt and I am getting old. At least this week I feel old. I hope tomorrow will be better and I can get back to work on the camper.

Good morning everyone.
It has been a few weeks since I did anything with the camper.
Last night I took the steel wool out and rubbed down the entire camper, walls, ceiling, cabinets to get ready for the final coat. I still have some door fronts to put a few more layers on first but that can be done later if need be.
I also signed up for my first vintage camper rally in Wisconsin next month. So I spent some time polishing with a metal polish (dirty job) the 54 Shasta. Maybe by the time of the rally I will have most of it polished. I need to see if I can use the buffer in some way to do this faster. It takes about 10 to 15 minutes to just do a 1 foot by 6 foot section and I only have 2 sections done at this point and about 60 more sections to go.

Got some more work down last night. Got the (what I hope is) final coat of shellac on cabinets frames and walls. Also got a couple more coats on the cabinet doors. Did some polishing on the 54. Managed to drop the polish and loose half of it in the gravel. I will have to take some pictures of how it is starting to look. 20180822_233649 by Tom Ress, on Flickr

Thanks Mobiltec, I think it looks pretty good. I used 1 quart of amber to 1 gallon of clear shellac. Helped cover up some of the old shellac.
I haven't worked on the camper for a week. I have been having issues with my hip and went camping over the weekend and spent the whole time either having issues with my hip or sick. Starting to feel better now but having to take it easy. But I did get the last coat of shellac on the ceiling and another coat of shellac on the cabinet doors. Need to sand the doors and get the final coat on and most of the shellac work will be done. I can then move onto the flooring, wiring and building stuff like the back gaucho.
Winter is just around the corner and I need to get this out of the garage so my wife and park inside. I need to get moving.

While all of you are camping I working. I am getting ready for a vintage rally the week of the 14th so I am scrubbing the 54 and fixing a window leak.
I did get some work done on the 58, I got another coat of shellac on the cabinet doors, rebuilt the front of one of the bench bottoms and some more general cleaning of the garage.
I did have a nice surprise, an old member of this board stopped by with another camper he found in my area. I need to spend more time tomorrow working on the camper.

Tonight I got the final coat of shellac on the cabinet door fronts. After that I went to the old camper and worked on cleaning the outside. I want to get it cleaned up for the vintage rally in a couple weeks.

Tonight, I got a little work done. I also can now do the floor. Ran out of time tonight to do it but I did kind of lay it out just to see what it would look like. 20180906_174809 by Tom Ress, on Flickr

Push is coming to shove and I need to get going before winter comes to the north. I got the floor down yesterday. I can now put in the bench bases and the goucho base. 20180908_191620 by Tom Ress, on Flickr

Had to replace 3 tiles. I went to clean up some glue and used acetone instead of mineral spirits and it ate the tile away and made the white black. I then worked on the front of the goucho. I needed to replace some framing and the front panels. Got a couple coats of shellac on it. I plan to take the goucho to a queen size length since the my daughters future husband is 6.2 and the bed will only be 50 inches wide. At some point someone pulled the box off the street side of the goucho. Hope to start putting parts back into the camper and get some wiring done as well as a new water tank. 20180909_151051 by Tom Ress, on Flickr 20180909_151056 by Tom Ress, on Flickr
