I build the front window frame and got it measured out as to where it will sit on the sidewalls. Between playing with the front tin and some other measurements I hope to have it in the right spot.

I have been gone camper a lot in the last month so very little work has been done but now that I am back I need to get moving on this again.
Today I put a final coat of varnish on a couple of the ceiling boards and also put the gimp on the walls so I can start to close in the camper.
Leaves are changing colors already here in Minnesota so I guess if the wife wants her garage back before it snows I need to get moving and get the rest of the walls up and wiring done that needs to go into the walls. Then I can get the skin on.

Yesterday I spend time again working on the camper.
I worked on getting the bench birch cut out and the wood around the kitchen lower cabinet cut. I also started fixing a cabinet door that was all warped.
I also put the final coat on the birch for the front wall. I put the first one on wrong and when I went to fix it I wrecked the board so I had to cut a new one.
I then went to the store and bought wood for the closet cabinet as well as some more wire for the electrical. I think every time I go to the store I spend $200 or more for the camper. I need to stop going to the store.
I need to make my final decisions on the cabinets today and start getting them in place so I can do some wiring for the 12 volt system.
Hope to post some pictures tonight with some progress.

I promised some pictures of the progress, here is the front wall framed in. Have been busy so didn't get anything done yesterday but I worked in the garage tonight for while even though it was 90 degrees out and very humid. 20200824_170015 by Tom Ress, on Flickr I started cutting out the front wardrobe frame. I am putting in a bigger fridge so I need to change it. 20200824_193807 by Tom Ress, on Flickr

Today I didn't work long outside because it was 90 and humid and being old and from Minnesota I can't deal with such temps. If it was 20 and snowing I would be fine. But I did work on getting the front frame of the wardrobe put together as well as the fridge box. Got to use my dado blade to recess the box into the frame. The front frame is maple. I really need to buy a router someday. Here is a picture of the frame and fridge box located in the camper. 20200825_183534 by Tom Ress, on Flickr

It has been a few days since I posted but I have been working on finishing the wardrobe. Here is a picture of it almost ready to be installed. I have also been doing other little items like: -Finishing the wood around the front windows -Looking at saving the original tail lights -planning for the stove area, son wants a microwave instead of stove -planning on wiring and gas lines that need to be installed before the tin goes on 20200902_194743 by Tom Ress, on Flickr

Last night I got the final coat of varnish on the wardrobe, put it in place and need to make a few adjustments.
I also worked on saving the old tail lights. I pulled the old light sockets out, have replacement sockets and went to the hardware store to find a way to mount them, which I think I did with some copper flanged fittings.
Since I am not camping this weekend I should be able to get a few more things done. I need to finish the kitchen cabinets so I can mount them as well as the bench seat bases.

Good evening and it is time to give an update Been working on the putting the gimp on the cabinets and installing them, just need to put gimp on the wardrobe to install that. Need to finish putting together the bench bases so I can install them. I was waiting for my son to come back from camping to let me know if I needed to modify the bottom kitchen cabinet, he hasn't said anything so I guess I will just do what I want. Weather has been bad so i haven't been able to varnish some of the cabinets or really open the doors up so I can't work outside. I am just wondering if I will get it out of the garage in time before winter. 20200910_182932 by Tom Ress, on Flickr

Once again, beautiful work.
Something about this thread...one of my favorites...just popped out at me. I must be getting slow.
"...for the year 2020"
New members should take notice. Here is somebody who has done this style Shasta before and yet this is the only camper he will restore this year. It goes to show what a labor of love requires. Count on a year if you really work at it, several years if you put in 10 hours a month. Best to make peace with it at the start. I think it's worth it.
Of course, it helps if you have a father who will restore the camper for you.

Is that a different species of wood for the wavy cabinet above the dinette seats?

Is that a different species of wood for the wavy cabinet above the dinette seats? It is all birch , the issue is some of it is old shellaced birch vs new birch also that was never shellaced. The white/grey stain just doesn't match with old wood and new which will make the woods stand out but the kids want it this way, they like the differences. I struggled with trying to match coloring but was never able to get it.

Tonights progress report Put some more coats of varnish on the cabinet doors and drawers Put some varnish on some more ceiling plywood pieces
Then my wife came out and told me she would buy me dinner if I drove her. So I drove her. I am not the brightest bulb but even I know if the wife wants to feed me I will go.
