I know that this is any old thread, but I am interested if there has been any progress. Pics ?
Also. My trailer is a 62 and is the same color... but I thought It was yellow underneath.. but the yellow extended up into the white. SO, i was wondering if your's was the same, I thought it might look that way. Maybe it's the primer?
Just trying to decide if mine is a repaint.. but it looks very much the same color as yours.

Here are some pics. The good, the bad, and the ugly. The cushions, the appliance, and the counters are brand new. A remodel project that was never complete. Going to replace the middle panel at the vent, and the ends from the windows down. I think were are going to go new appliances (since we have 1/2 of those), and vintage otherwise (floors, fixtures, decor etc). Not sure yet on the water system. There is not a tank now, so we might just go shore water only. There will be 12V,....and and AC worked in somewhere. Either under the bench or in a cabinet, where the MW is now. Still thinking on that.... So, I have been a long time camper, and a king time tinkerer... I built the family a (2 kids, 3 and 6) a large teardrop ish trailer that I finished last year. We have been taking camping trip almost every month since it was complete. We managed to take a 4k mile trip to the Midwest last summer and had a blast.... I know, what does this have to do with my "vintage trailer" I have been in the lookout for another project, something larger, but not too large....like I said, I like to tinker so this sort to thing fits me to a T. I know that one day the teardrop will be to small, so I'm thinking ahead. Here's my first trailer... Memorial Day Weekend 2015 by gunguy05, on Flickr I came across a 62 Shasta a couple weeks ago, it was about 6 hours from me, I ran it by the CEO who seemed mildly interested (although she was mumbling "not another project"). So.. Long story short, we took off after said trailer last Friday after she got off work.... Sat morning we made it to the owners house..i was initially disappointed, but then I really started lookin at things. I figured for a 50 something yr old trailer it wasn't in that bad a shape. The wife said "it might be fun to fix up".... That was all the go ahead I needed. Sold! The pics look pretty good in the inside, although it has the typical end and vent leaks. But! There is a lot that can be saved there and after all, I have a camping vehicle at the moment so we can take our time in this one.. Anyways, I will have (and already have had) lots of questions. Mobiltec, your videos have already taught me a lot, I just have to get a little space cleared out in the workshop now. Photos are coming soon.. Just have to upload.

Be cautious of "bending" ply, as it is used as an underlayment and meant to be covered with formica, or stain grade veneers, which can possibly be unstable in an environment like our trailers. All bending ply I have seen has a rough or stringy feel to it and doesn't like being sanded to a 'show' finish. You might ask the rep about that. It is supposed to be a finish grade on one side according to the rep. I'm going by tomorrow to get it ordered.

Can we order the Columbia Forest Wood Products 1/8" birch at any Home Depot? Their website says 1/4" is as thin as they sell. Let us know where it was actually milled (the label) when you get it. According to the rep on the phone, yes. He was very helpful and knowledgeable about it. I hope that it is quality stuff. They really push the purbond, formaldehyde free glues. The stuff I am building my teardrop with seems to be of good quality, and is made in the US, so I'm hopeful. I will get a piece, shellac it and post up some photos, hopefully in a couple weeks. The lead time is 10 days on an order. Here is a link to the product page. www.columbiaforestproducts.com/product/columbia-radius-bending-plywood/

I haven't seen anyone come in here for the southeast, so here's what my research is showing. I've watched plenty of mobiltec videos, so I'm about ready to start tearing things apart. But first, I must find a good source for Birch.
There is a place in Summerville South Carolina, Berlin Meyers, that has it for about $62 a sheet.
The next closest place to me which is up just south of Atlanta. That is Rick Hawkins cabinets, he sells it for $50 a sheet, and he will actually color match shellac if you could send him a piece for $70 a sheet.
My third option, is to special order through the Columbia Forest Wood Products program at Home Depot. Yes, I hate Home Depot too but they will allow you to order as few as one sheet if you want. I'm going to order a sheet of that, since they have that program and see what it looks like. I've used their 1/2 stuff on my teardrop, and It looks pretty nice, seems pretty stable.
I envy the folks in other parts of the country, but just does not exist around here in 1/8 inch the sheets everywhere that I call they want to sell me 1/4 inch but many of them have never heard of 1/8 inch. I called at least 20 stores within a 300-mile radius of Savannah Georgia a couple days ago.
I will update back when I get the Columbia Forest stuff in and post a couple pics..
