So, I have been a long time camper, and a king time tinkerer... I built the family a (2 kids, 3 and 6) a large teardrop ish trailer that I finished last year. We have been taking camping trip almost every month since it was complete. We managed to take a 4k mile trip to the Midwest last summer and had a blast.... I know, what does this have to do with my "vintage trailer" I have been in the lookout for another project, something larger, but not too large....like I said, I like to tinker so this sort to thing fits me to a T. I know that one day the teardrop will be to small, so I'm thinking ahead. Here's my first trailer... Memorial Day Weekend 2015 by gunguy05, on Flickr I came across a 62 Shasta a couple weeks ago, it was about 6 hours from me, I ran it by the CEO who seemed mildly interested (although she was mumbling "not another project"). So.. Long story short, we took off after said trailer last Friday after she got off work.... Sat morning we made it to the owners house..i was initially disappointed, but then I really started lookin at things. I figured for a 50 something yr old trailer it wasn't in that bad a shape. The wife said "it might be fun to fix up".... That was all the go ahead I needed. Sold! The pics look pretty good in the inside, although it has the typical end and vent leaks. But! There is a lot that can be saved there and after all, I have a camping vehicle at the moment so we can take our time in this one.. Anyways, I will have (and already have had) lots of questions. Mobiltec, your videos have already taught me a lot, I just have to get a little space cleared out in the workshop now. Photos are coming soon.. Just have to upload.

Welcome with your new hobby... it is always good to hear that a new owner is able to take their time. Usually, making room in the shop is as big a project as the project is... The research into the process can be lengthy, if you really get into it. The more you learn ahead the better. I'm partial myself to the early-60's Shastas, have one of my own that is about to become a career move. I look forward to seeing what you have and how the project looks.

Here are some pics. The good, the bad, and the ugly. The cushions, the appliance, and the counters are brand new. A remodel project that was never complete. Going to replace the middle panel at the vent, and the ends from the windows down. I think were are going to go new appliances (since we have 1/2 of those), and vintage otherwise (floors, fixtures, decor etc). Not sure yet on the water system. There is not a tank now, so we might just go shore water only. There will be 12V,....and and AC worked in somewhere. Either under the bench or in a cabinet, where the MW is now. Still thinking on that.... With regards to your paint question (different thread), it looks very much like it was an original scheme from the factory. They were often done in two-tone. The Z-stripe was unpainted, polished aluminum, and separated the top and bottom halves. Top usually was an off-white or almond shade. The bottom half would have been a salmon-color. It looks like they had some extra of the original for those patch panels on the front.

Great pick for a project! I'm working on a 59 on and off when I get time and it is almost an exact duplicate of your 62. They sure didn't change much in those three years. I put a new Dometic in up high so it's easier to get to. No microwave. I have some videos of the refrigerator install on the website in case you are interested. I need to make the final one next time I'm working on it.
Love that Tear and welcome to the forum.

I think that I might move the refrigerator either up or down, and put in a air conditioner. It just depends on how I can get the vents to line up and everything with the existing outside holes. We live in Georgia, so an air conditioner is necessary with us and the two kids. That's my first off, my second option would be to put the air conditioner under the Gaucho in the back, and then it downward. I will check out those videos when I get a chance. Thanks for all the work you put it in those, they have been very helpful this far.

I saw the Georgia State flag. I love everything about Georgia but the heat and humidity during the summer. Been there in the winter and it sure is nice. Air conditioners seem to work best up high rather than down low from what I've experienced. I have videos on that subject as well.. I've never stacked both the AC and Fridge together so I'm not sure how the exhaust would work but somebody here must have tried it.
