I love that your going to have an outdoor shower, I always love those on vintage campers. Are you going to have any kind of rod or curtain?

I love that your going to have an outdoor shower, I always love those on vintage campers. Are you going to have any kind of rod or curtain? Don't plan on anything at this time. My first thought was a bathing suit or it was meant to wash things off if needed. I guess we will see what happens along the way. My wife and I are more or less camper virgins and have no experience with what is needed but I thought it would be nice if we also took the dogs and needed to wash them?

Friday night is date night so only got a few items done to the camper but Saturday I worked on it all day and only needed to go to the store twice for more foam glue. It took 9 tubes and I could have used 10 maybe. Work effort over the last couple day: finished all the wiring Glued insulation buffed window frame and gas light ready to tyvek Last night I was looking at the output of the 12 volt system and I seem to be getting 26 volts when I turn on the converter. Now I need to figure out why this is happening. It seems like the system is acting like it is wired in series which would make the charger act like a battery. I will need to check the wiring again. 20170708_213817 by Tom Ress, on Flickr

Got the voltage issue resolved, it as the idiot doing the wiring. Wire that said battery meant negative not positive. Live and learn. Not much to report wife made me spend the day with her, I don't understand her priorities

After some more family stuff I came home and worked: Got the straps taken off over the insulation - I decided to leave a few of them on in the real bendy areas. I figured it wouldn't hurt anything
Got a board in place for the on demand water heater
Started taking the door apart, I need to watch a video from mobiltec to see how he took it apart and what I should expect to see inside. The one issue I can see is the door was rebuild before.
Forgot that last Thur or Friday I got the blocks laid out on the walls to put up the bunk bed if desired
Now I need to let the new wiring and lights burn in and see if there are any issues and then I can hopefully clean up the wiring again.
Tonight I hope to get the following done: Get the door apart Tyvek the camper Maybe hang the upper pieces of skin Buff and clean a window or two Clean up old tape
Things are coming off the list but very very slow now. I gave up trying to get it ready by Friday.

Good morning everyone and happy day. My camper is looking more and more like a camper everyday. I see the end and it is coming just not as fast as I would like it. All the detail stuff takes forever. Example, it took about an hour I think to buff out one interior window frame. But to get to the list: - Tyvek the camper - ran out of tape so will finish that tonight - Buffed out a window frame - Cut out the windows and doors of the tyvek and cleaned up edges - Ran the electricity all night and had a cold almost frozen gatoraide in the freezer this morning - Brother came over and continued to finish up inside of cabinets, shelfs and false bottoms to hide the lighting wiring 20170710_221727 by Tom Ress, on Flickr 20170710_221737 by Tom Ress, on Flickr

Big day yesterday, I started to put on the metal. My biggest fear was that the cutouts were in the wrong spot since at times I didn't have much to work with from the old wall bases and back corner rot. It looks like everything will work. I may have to take a bend out here and bend over some metal there and cut here and a trim piece I hope is long enough there to cover but those are few. So the work went as follows: Finished taping the tyvek Polished to top of the front window frame Started taking apart the rear window for buffing and then cleaned it with an SOS pad and when I took it to the buffer it shined right up in 1\3 the time My brother came over after working on his deck all day and we started taking down all the tin and laying it out in the drive way. We then decided on the first piece we wanted to put up and went for it. with a few adjustments we seam to have it in the right spot. I think I maybe found something that will help polish this tin can up. SOS pad. I think the trick is to change them out when the blue polish is gone. Will do more experiments and let you know. Tonight I plan to start stapling the tin down for good once I make sure everything is right and I make a few cuts for the the water, shower, electricity, and refrigerator vents. I also need to make sure I have all the running light wires were they need to be and see if I need to drill out some pockets in the wood for these lights. Just lots of little details to finish up the tin, and the biggest is cleaning up the old tape and calk and misc. stuff on the the tin and trim. 20170711_211807 by Tom Ress, on Flickr

Hands are sore, scrubbed paint, calk and tape off the aluminum all night. Not much to show. Also got door apart so I can start the rebuild. I also broke my big compressor so I can't use my air tools. Don't have time to look into this so will get my old compressor from my son to finish stapling. Tonight will try and finish metal prep and cut holes for vents and plumbing.

I was gonna like your post Tom but then saw the compressor croaked. Sorry about that. Frustrating when you're all ready to build and something doesn't work...

Good morning and today's camper report is in: The Camper continues to need calk and goo cleaned, but the side and back skins are looking good. The tin for the roof comes down tonight and cleaning will start. The sides have holes cut for the water, electricity, and refrigerator vents. It also stapled and screwed down except for the bottom were I need to get it back on tires so I have some space to work. Electricity is now run through the wall so no more cord running thru a window (I hope) Making little brackets to mount my fridge vents were needed. Got a few done but have about 8 more to go. And now the brother report: He has been working on false bottoms and shelves for the cabinets. They are going to look very nice. For those who want to do this let me tell you this, details take a long time. They make all the difference but they will double your estimate of how long something takes. Also you will test all your skills, woodworking, electrical, metal work, mechanical, patience and the biggest one of all, your pocket book. Is it worth all the effort? I will let you know when I get done and we go camping and my wife and I decide that we like camping and we did the right thing by building this little tin lizzy. 20170714_063009 by Tom Ress, on Flickr 20170714_062958 by Tom Ress, on Flickr

Last night we didn't do date night so I pulled the roof off the ceiling and started cleaning it for the camper. I don't know what the PO did at some point but it looks like they used some type of filler on the seams and on the folded over edge and jrail. I had to get the sander out to get it off. I was about 60% done when my wife came out with that look on her face.
Mom called and she has a leak under her sink, (of course it was the faucet I put in a couple weeks ago) needless to say when my mom calls all other things get put on hold and momma's little boy runs to her help.
I spent the next 2 hours under a sink that you can't get a tool in and find that the rubber seal on the hose I used was ripped. Got to the hardware store 1 minute before they closed and got a new one. I hope it is now fixed.
I got home and finished the sanding and then went to bed. Today I will get roof fastened down. I hate cleaning tar, calk, silicone, putty and old paint off this stuff, it just really slows everything down and you don't feel like you got anything done. OK I will stop whining and get back to work.

It has been a long day. I got going at 8:30 and worked until 7:45. Got the following done: - Got the vents, electrical box and water boxes spray painted - Got the roof on - Cleaned the L rail for the front corners - The small pieces of aluminum next to the windows are now cleaned up - Got the electrical box mounted - cleaned the J and C rail - did a tool round up - looked for the aluminum next to windows for a good 30 minutes and they were right in front of me under a window - Looked for 30 min for the water fill piece that went to the cabinet water jug and didn't find it. I know when I put it somewhere I said put this in a safe spot so it doesn't get lost. Well, it is lost or I am. - Started cleaning the front window of gunk - Went to Menards and bought wood for the door and spray paint ( also snuck some candy!!! Don't tell the wife) Here are some pictures because you guys like pictures. 20170715_193634 by Tom Ress, on Flickr 20170715_193625 by Tom Ress, on Flickr 20170715_193617 by Tom Ress, on Flickr

Monday I kind of took the night off to a point. I thought about working on building the new door but then got side tracked on how to button up the back end. I am having issues finding the right tail lights so played with making a flange but that didn't turn out like I want so that idea is gone. I think I will have to find the cake tail lights and get them. I really need to figure out the tail lights before I can button up the back end. It will come to me in a dream I would guess. The brother got one more shelf cut and in place for a cabinet. 20170717_190103 by Tom Ress, on Flickr 20170717_190018 by Tom Ress, on Flickr
