So glad you are all safe and sound! Thank you for posting this nightmare of a journey. It will hopefully educate some and I too am amazed what you both did with very little tools. You are very resourceful. This experience will make you love your lil trailer that much more!!

Consider me "totally terrified" now! I was lucky in that the one shasta compact on Ebay that I could afford was less than 20 miles from my house. DH was not up for a total restore, however, and I'm pretty concerned after hearing your story. My back corner is separated like yours. I just figured to put some new edging on it and call it a fix. Now I'm not so sure.. I must admire your "true grit." I'm not sure we could have done such a good fix in our own driveway! Thanks for sharing but hope it's "happy camping" for you from here on out!

You guys rock. What a great save. But I agree that this is one of the major reasons I won't buy a trailer I can not poke and prod with my Ice Pick. The Ice Pick test would have shown a potential problem here. One of the things I like to do when I look at a trailer is to get on my back underneath and check the entire frame. Especially the side walls as they are the only thing connecting the trailer to the frame. I've seen a few trailers left on the side of the road that didn't make it to their destination. Not a pretty site.
Great job on the save. Looks like you will be calling Hemet Valley Trailers and Siding for new metal...

Great job! I dunno, considering how it turned out, you might want to re-title this BEST experience ever.
Note to self: if you ever buy another one of these, make sure you bring your generator.

OMG, Being new to this I don't think we could have handled such a situation. I'm glad you posted about it as we will check this when buying.

Good Gawd! I read the newbie warning thread followed by this... what an eye opener! I feel so bad for you, I would have probably lit a match to it. Congrats for having the fortitude to muster through this.
