I'll bet he said golly gee honey this is worse than I thought. or something like that. My wife says it would have taken hours and two bars of soap inserted oraly to settle me down if that happened to us.

Because the hole in the tongue was too small for the new jack, we decided to hitch the trailer to the truck and prop the roadside up with a 2x4 as it was starting to topple over.

Never having done this before, we figured the first thing to do was to level the main frame with jack stands.

Once the frame was level, we stripped, lifted and propped the roadside skin up. This is the roadside baggage compartment. You can see how much the wall had dropped.

All the vintage campers we`ve worked on have had 1x2`s running across the bottom of the walls. We were shocked to find that the Shasta 1500 had 3/4 x 3/4 running across the bottom. Next we cleaned all the rotten wood off (brushed off really) and measured for new.

We were in the corner of the hotel parking lot on concrete. 102 degrees, no shade and no electricity. At this point we both started feeling really sick and dizzy. Bo is really white so by this time he has started to burn. I`m lucky in the burn department as those of you that have met me know I`m a mixture so my darker side was starting to show . The hotel was great, giving us ice and water etc. By mid afternoon, people who had been watching out of their windows, started to come out and check on us and our progress.

No power. So the hotel told us to use the outlet by the pool for the skill saw but we didn`t want to get sawdust in their pool so we opt to use a handsaw.

New wood going in. We put a length of 1x3 behind the wall and screwed the vertical 1x2`s to it.

Then we put a 1x2 under the vertical 1x2`s and screwed the horizontal 1x2 to the horizontal 1x3 behind it.

Next Bo jacked the wall up while I forced 6ft 4", 2x4 T`s between the floor and ceiling inside. THAT WAS AN EXPERIENCE!

12 and 1/2 hours and we had her skin back on and good old duck tape on her damaged corners. Now to find food and a room. We had magnetic lights with us as the PO had stated that he had never tried the lights. Just for beeps and giggles we plugged in and low and behold she had lights. UNBELIEVABLE!
