I've taken my Princess stove/oven out of my Shasta, cleaned it up, set it back in place but didn't install. Then I took it out again, realized mice had pulled out a bunch of insulation, so I took it completely apart, did a deeper clean, reinsulated and then set it BACK into place, for a 2nd time. It's sitting there, still uninstalled because I need to get my copper line up into the cabin before I'm ready to secure it in. I JUST noticed, after all this time, that there's about a 1" gap at the very back wall of the oven that I can see completely through to the back wall behind the oven. All the way across. Did I put it back together incorrectly? I don't think I did... everything seemed to go together correctly and screwed into the right holes, I thought? Or has this gap always been there for airflow/ventilation and I'm just now noticing it? Does anyone have a Princess or similar stove that they can open the oven and see if there's a gap at the bottom that you can see completely through it?

Oven gap by t_in_maine, on Flickr This is the "gap" I'm referencing in my Princess stove's oven. Lowest point in the back of the oven. Can anyone open up their oven door and confirm or deny that this is supposed to be there?

Our Princess stove does not have that gap. Do you know what "model" or what era yours is? Mine is a Model 100, in a 1960 Shasta.

Theresa, Can you post a picture of the front of the stove unless you are satisfied with the responses above? Getnold's Westerner stove is an earlier model of stove that I don't think was produced into the 60's. That might explain the difference in gap or no gap. Cheers, Rod Rod, the front can be seen toward the end of this thread: vintagetrailertalk.freeforums.net/thread/4441/remove-stove?page=2

Hi Theresa,
Ahh, I remember that thread. I would go with Tom's info as it shows consistency with two Model 100's. I would expect my stove (pictured in the linked thread) to have the gap as well. I can double check tomorrow if you want. That would be three times - the charm.

Hi Theresa, I am sorry, the week got away from me. I have no life right now with distance learning. I will check later today or on Saturday. Rod No worries Rod. Life gets in the way sometimes. Thanks for keeping it in mind...

Hi Theresa, I don't see any gap. Did I need to remove the back panel? The back of the stove seems to match the corner edge of the side. As you can see the back steel panel is flush with the corner edge of the stove. So, I am not seeing a gap unless its under that rear steel panel. There is a protrusion beyond the rear panel at the top center, that I suppose is the vent for the stove, but I am not really sure. Let me know if I need to remove that rear panel. Open the oven door and look under the bottom burner at the bottom.
