OK, to bring up a VERY old thread... three years later I'm now ready to reinstall my stove. In all my haste to get it removed, I don't quite know or remember how to reinstall it. I have a black piece off the bottom and I'm not entirely sure how that attaches to the stove itself, and how the entire assembly attaches to the bottom... below is the piece unattached from the stove itself (the stove is on its side in the picture) Separate piece to stove by t_in_maine, on Flickr Also, was there insulation between the stove bottom and that black piece? I don't recall taking any out. This is my stove all shined up and ready to re-install: Princess Stove by t_in_maine, on Flickr

Usually, there's a shield at the bottom of the stove that has air holes in it. It isn't insulated. I can't remember exactly how it is installed on a Princess.
Anyone have any photos?

HI Friends,
Theresa,
Do you still need help with this issue?
I bought the same model stove to be placed in my 57 Westerner from someone 3 years ago. It's in the garage covered under some stuff. When I get a chance, I will see if I can get some pix and hopefully some answers.
Cheers,
Rod

I have my stove just sitting in place, but uninstalled until I know for sure how it's going back together. I'm not in a great hurry. I so appreciate the efforts!

Hi Theresa, I just realized that my stove is older than yours. The knobs and handle look older. So, I don't know if that helps or confuses things. Here is my stove I wish I could be more conclusive about the insulation question. I found no insulation between the stove bottom and "that black piece". From now on, I will refer to “that black piece” as the lower black panel in. I did buy this stove used, so I can’t tell you if there was originally insulation installed. Maybe it was removed? If you look at Ten's photo, I see a light color inside the mounting holes on the bottom. Could that be insulation? For those who haven't poked under a stove like this, the lower black panel fits underneath the bottom of the stove, like a shoe box lid upside down. It's attached with two bendable metal L - shaped tabs/clips that are underneath the stove door opening. Look underneath the door opening and you should see those there. Here is a picture of the lower black panel mounted under the stove. Here is a close up of one of the tabs/clips. I was able to remove the black bottom panel by bending the tabs towards me and then the lower panel fell out. Then, to reinstall the lower black panel, I bent the clips towards the rear away from me. Of note, in looking at the bottom of the lower black panel, does it look to have become heated and maybe the heat mixed with the shellac on the stove shelf and that caused the discoloration? Cheers, Rod
