I am working on the restoration/renovation of a 1968 Wildcat Model 18. It came with a 20amp fuse and a female shore plug with a male to male extension cord. Therefore I yanked that rig. I just purchased a WFCO-8735 Power Center. I am good to go on the hook up for the main power supply, the 2 additional breakers and all of the 12v lines. HOWEVER..... how do I hook up lights and an outlet to the battery? There is a line that is designated to go to the battery but I assumed that was for charging the battery. Am I wrong and this line instead supplies power to the 12V circuits? I have searched for days and cannot find anything about this. Everything directs you to 12V Inverter hook ups and nothing shows a Power Center with Converter wired to the trailer and a battery. Or do I just have to run wires from a battery to designated lights? I hope this is not the case. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

There are some good wiring diagrams on the web that should help. Look for a 8700 if I remember. The big thing to remember is one of the wires coming out the back will say some type of name that makes you think it is a 12 positive but it really the 12 volt negative. But the red I think goes to charging the battery. I think if you read the image it will help you. images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/91h5ukcMsUL._SL1500_.jpgMake sure you test the voltage. If your getting more then the 13 volts then your not wired right for 12 volt.

A power center has both 110 breakers and a 12 volt fuse block combined. There is a battery charger as well.
Your main 110 wiring goes to the breaker side, white to a common bar, ground to the ground bar and hot to the hot lug at the breakers. Sometimes, there is a main, if that's the case, you would connect the hot to the main breaker. Be sure to use 10ga Romex from the 30 amp inlet to the breaker side of the box.
The 12 volt side is similar to a separate fuse block. Connect the battery hot to the appropriate lug and the ground as the manual instructs. There will be a very secure ground bolted to the frame as well. The hots for each 12 volt circuit go to the fuse connections. For instance, the upper lighting may all be on the same circuit. You can connect each light in line (hot to hot) and run one wire to the fuse block.
The 12 volt grounds all eventually go to the frame, so you can junction many together regardless be a main ground lug at the converter for your circuits. of circuit. I like to use J boxes to make the wiring easy to get to in case repairs are necessary. There will
I'm guessing you'll have 3 or 4 12 volt circuits in the trailer. Be sure to fuse per wire size and load.

Thanks vilx. That does confirm what I have figured out over the last couple of days. I am good to go now. Put in a 30amp main breaker with a 20 amp and two 15amps. All outlets and 3 lights will run from the breakers. I will have 4 lines from the 12v side that will run the remaining interior, trunk and exterior lights and the fridge. Looking forward to getting this part of the project finished up.

Good thread! I just received my Progressive Dynamics PD4045 and I'll be installing it soon. Their documentations is abysmal, so I've been looking to gather as much info as possible before I proceed.

I have an older Magnatek 6300 in my Hanson. It has a NOS converter portion that is working fine. However, if it fails, I'll replace with a PD that is made to fit. Great little converters. Be SURE you get a smart charger with it, they protect the battery.

Well.... the actual electric hook up did not go as planned. I ran 2- 20amps and 2-15amp breakers. 12g wire on both 20amps. One covers the outlets for kitchen appliances and exterior use and the other covers the Bosch electric hot water heater and fridge. I ran 14g wire for the lights over the dinning area and the other 15 is not hooked up to anything yet. I ran 12v to the vent fan and for exterior LED lighting. We have 8 trips booked this year and all of them are full service. So that is why we went with a point of use electric hot water heater and a regular mini fridge.
