I have yet to peek under the skin of my Shasta, as just got her home. I did pull up the hardwood floor to see what it looked like underneath (it was just a floating floor and came right out). <a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/126814716@N02/37382430504/in/dateposted/" title="IMG_0207"><img src="https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4459/37382430504_b3388ae1d5_z.jpg" width="480" height="640" alt="IMG_0207"></a><script async src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js" charset="utf-8"></script> This is what I found: <a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/126814716@N02/37487809304/in/dateposted/" title="IMG_0270"><img src="https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4581/37487809304_41642f3dcd_z.jpg" width="480" height="640" alt="IMG_0270"></a><script async src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js" charset="utf-8"></script> <a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/126814716@N02/26421659509/in/dateposted/" title="IMG_0269"><img src="https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4495/26421659509_db90c448f9_z.jpg" width="480" height="640" alt="IMG_0269"></a><script async src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js" charset="utf-8"></script> So, looks like someone started to take up the tiles, but then just decided to cover it up. What is the best way to check the shape of the plywood and underlayment - as I can't really feel any 'soft' spots. I've read about poking around with an icepick...does that mean inside as well an under the camper? So if it is soft- the pick will let me know. That is the deciding factor I presume to needing to replace floor/subfloor? Is a little softness ok? After 53 years, I presume there will be softness...or no? I'm just learning people..... Thanks for any help u can offer. K

I am guessing you will find it in corners, by the wheel wells and at the front of back. Someone else will jump in and give you more details but you may have fiber board underneath to that will be soft but you should get to hard plywood at some point I would hope. Walk around and try putting a lot of weight on a small area and see if you get much give. The one issue you run into is they didn't put a lot of support under the plywood so sometimes you get flex but not a softness and it can sometimes be easy to confuse.
Also be concerned about the damage to the walls by the windows and corners where it looks like you have water damage already.

The middle portion of the floor is probably OK. You have to lift the skins to see if the edges are good. I agree with Tom, there is water damage showing, you'll find rot behind once you take things apart.
