Looks like your Shasta was produced in 1959 in Van Nuys, California. Not really knowing what Model you have, it could be an Airflyte, Astrodome. Those were the two main models being produced during 1959 and 1960.
Please let me know which Model you have, so I can keep it with the Vin#.
Thanks, Ross

I have a question.... How do you know this stuff Ross? Where did you get the formula? Currently, there are over 480 Vin#'s that I have collected with the help of a lot of people giving me their Shasta's Vin# and Model. Based on the prefix letter, each vin# runs consecutively. Also, knowing when each manufacturing plant opened (just wish I knew when they closed). By compiling the Vin#'s and Model's on a spread sheet, patterns start to form. Some manufacturing plants only produced one or two Models when they first opened. BUT, there were exceptions to that rule. For example, they would produce an Astrodome one year, but not again for several months or even a year or so. HOWEVER, this can all change when more Vin#'s and Model's come in, which will change this theory. Shasta was probably the most popular travel trailer ever produced, with hundreds of thousands to it's name. They have stood the test of time and as they are being found and brought back to relive their glory days, in my opinion, they are one of the most sought after trailers to date. On a side note, PLEASE remember, I DO NOT keep owners names, where the Shasta has lived or currently lives. The only info that I ask for is the Shasta's Vin# and Model, that's it. I DO NOT post or share this database with anyone or any website. It is not available to the public. I do this to help others date their Shasta's and it's fun seeing the manufacturing patterns (same model being produced) surface.

So it's an evolving personal project. The way you can identify these things made me think you had an official master list or something from some dusty office in a defunct factory in Indiana. You're doing a fantastic thing for these lovely old trailers. Keep up the good work sir!

I currently have over 375 Shasta Vin's and would love to add your Shasta's VIN Number and Model to the database. This really comes in handy for helping others date their Shasta's. Those of you who would like to share your info, you can either post it here or PM me with the info. I am only looking for the Year, VIN# and the Model of your Shasta. This Database list is not published or available to the public. There are some Shasta owners that don't want their Vin#'s made public and I value their privacy. I really appreciate your help with this and thank you very much. Ross Staff Note: If possible, when seeking information, please add a photo with your inquiry to aid in identification. How about this for an oldie? C5498 on my '56 Shasta. Possibly a 1500?? Sorry, I don't see a tab to add a picture. Thanks.

Just wondering Ross, if anyone who lived where these plants closed could search the local history for you to try to find out a closing year. I know where I lived it would be fairly easy (although a bit time consuming) to search at the library....just wondering

Streets and roads don't exist anymore. Some day we will run across this info.
