There should be a metal casting just to the right of the door. Based on the production run during that year, you could have an Astroflyte, 1500, Compact,Loflyte or Deluxe.
Post a picture or describe the interior layout and give the measurements (length and width) of the body of your Shasta. Sometimes the title will have the correct model listed. These will help figure out what you have.

I am wondering if you can help with the year of my Shasta. According to the brochure stapled to the inside of the cabinet it matches the floor plan shown for a 19. The VIN is 15959, no letters preceding the numbers. The VIN is located on the inside of the hitch on the Off Door Side. The address on the Shasta label show the address 940 Tampa Ave, Northridge California. There is a State of California, Trailer Coach Approval for Sale in California plate. Inside there is an Electrical inspection tag attached to the 110 volt breaker for the Province of Alberta with the date of 1961. Another sticker inside indicates it was sold by a dealer in Calgary, Alberta. I would have added a picture but can't seem to get that accomplished

Based on the info you have given, I believe that your Shasta was born in 1962. There are PREFIX letters and numbers missing in the vin#. They are could probably be "D", "DS", "D3S" or "D4S".
Based on the info in the Database, during 1962 and 1963, for the Northridge plant, Compacts and Airflytes were the main 2 models being produced. However, there were a few 16SC's, Airflyte Deluxe's, 1400's and 1500's being produced.
By clicking on my avatar name, you can see my email address and send me pictures of your Shasta. Would love to see what you have.

Hey Tink,
Could there be the prefix letter "F" in front of the S? Also, was your Shasta produced at the Northridge, California plant? Check the green manufacturing badge next to the entry door.
If all is true, your Shasta 16SCS was born in 1963, in Northridge, California.
Hope this helps.

Ross, thanks much! Yes to Northridge as indicated next to the grab handle.... the metal frame tag has NO-F, I will do a little more gentle sanding. So do you till put her at 1963? Thanks for all the help, you are doing a great thing for the Shasta clan..... Tink

The sequence of numbers and being from Northridge, yes, I believe that the 1963 date is correct.

I got a better look at the inspection certificate. It is a Gas Inspection Certificate. It is dated Feb 10, 1961. It also has the full serial number written on it. D1-S15959. Not sure if the D1 is part of it as there is quite a space between it and the S. I would send you a picture but I don't see your e mail address when I click on your avatar.

I just bought a Shasta Compact that has been parked for several years. It was manufactured in Grapevine, Texas. Can you please help me find the year model? The vin number I found is T-7107. Thank you

The D1 is part of the vin# and you do have a 1962 Shasta, not a 63', as originally thought. If you click on my avatar name, Ross, it will show you may email address. I would love to see a few pictures of your Shasta.

Thank you It is great to see another Grapevine, Texas Shasta pop up! Your Shasta Compact was born in 1967, probably mid year. The Grapevine plant opened in late 1966. Good luck with your Compact project.

I believe that you have a Shasta 19 Super, which, based on the Vin#, was produced in mid year of 1965 in Goshen, Indiana. Before it was first sold, the dealer may have grabbed a title and didn't pay any attention to the date.
Hope this helps.

I believe I have a Shasta 16-SCS. The VIN IS P2053. I need to find out the year it was made. I am attempting to title it through South Dakota.
