I need to figure out if this number stamped is the vin # S663 seems short to me? should it be longer? The trailer has no symbols or logo stickers to tell me what the trailer is. I was hoping to take the vin # down to DMV and see if they could tell me anything about it. The short number was on the top of the tounge curbside not on the frame rail itself.

Hard to see in the pic but there is a 4 digit number then a gap and then the S663 Stamped and another number above the S663 stamped.

Nice trailer! Are you sure it's a Shasta? The front logo looks longer than "Shasta".
That being said, our resident VIN guru Ross is back! Not sure if late 70s is do-able in his data base. Hope we can help.

Where is bruce when ya need him?
I say not a Shasta...they did not have wheel cutouts like that. However it is a really cool trailer...I have seen one recently but of course, can't remember where, with those well-cuts. I do not think it had the rearward entry, but may have been the same manufacture but a different model. I am keeping an eye out. My guess about the VIN...if it is the VIN, stamped where it is, then I would think the number should be the complete 4-digit and the "S663" , thus an 8-digit combo. Just a guess though.
Is there any kind of faded markings at all in the outline of that front sticker? That may well be the best clue you may find as to the manufacture.

I don't think it is a Shasta. The sticker marker on the front has some faded outlines but I just cant make out the letters the first one might be a large uppercase "B". The wheel well does have a unique cut out shape. Some one told me the old man that had it got it from a sheep herder. His son didnt know anything else about it other than it had been in his late dads back yard for at least 13 years. There is moss growing on the window ledge that sat on the north side. Gotta mystery on my hands.

Can you post a close-up photo of the faded front sticker? Maybe someone will recognize it.

Don't totally rule out Shasta because of the cut outs. After Coachman bought them out in 1976, they did have cut outs and some had a funky looking logo. However, someone else here had a trailer with that same faded logo on the front. I remember searching for trailers that started with B and never found it. Maybe that wasn't the trailer's logo, but some other kind of decal or identification for a park or something. The clearance lights on the front are oddly close together and in the center. Could be a clue when looking. Here's a late model Shasta, couldn't find a '76 shorter model. This is an 80's 19', double axle.

Hmmmm..... I will post an upclose pic of the logo when I get home from town. Maybe someone will recognize it. I do agree there are clues such as the lights.

I was also thinking since its got more rounded curves it would possibly be more in the later 60 era` does anyone agree??

If I were being forced to make up a year to register it with, and no other basis to go by except the photos here, I would put it at 1968. I base it on what I know of the Shasta trailers, even though most companies did things just a bit differently. The brakes in the aluminum siding appear later-60's, the type windows used, the water heater cover and the vent doors resemble later ones. The rounded corners were not uncommon (even though Shasta shifted away from them in the transition to the toaster shape in '65). Hoilday Rambler and Holiday Traveler come to mind. I believe Cree and a few others also employed that rounded corner effect too.
