Hello,
Your 16SCS was manufactured in 1963 based on the VIN you submitted.
Feel free to share pictures in the Talk About Your Trailer subforum.
Cheers,

I was given a Shasta compact? The serial number is 51745. I don’t see any letter in front of the number. Thanks!

Hi Salty dawg,
Are you sure that the 5 is not a Letter S? It's unlikely that the serial number is 5 digits without a preceding letter. It is possible that it's a letter S followed by a four digit number. Did you take a pencil rubbing of the serial number? Sometimes it's easier to see the serial number that way.
It would help if you posted a picture.

Great! Your trailer might be a model 1300, maybe 1966. A Shasta expert needs to confirm. This might be an unusual/rare size. I found one online that was 1967 www.vintagecampertrailers.com/for-sale/1967-shasta, but it has the newer jalousies. Yours has the older jalousies making it earlier than a 1967. Lets see what others say. Rod

Hello everyone 👋🏻 thank you for accepting me into this forum👍🏻 I’m super excited about our new trailer. It was sold to me as a 1968 but on the small tag on the back it says M66 not sure what that means I am fairly new here. I was able to find the vin. S31325PA4247. Not sure how to include a picture. Please excuse my newbieness. Any information will greatly be appreciated.

rc55, Welcome! We need a picture of your trailer as that might help confirm the year. Click below for our Photo Tutorial on how to post a picture to the forum. Flickr: vintagetrailertalk.freeforums.net/thread/7276/add-photos-hosted-flickr-tutoria DO NOT USE PHOTOBUCKET As to the serial number. Was the serial number on the registration or the title Or did you find it stamped on the frame? The serial number you furnished is unusual for the year you presented. Here is where you can find the serial number on the frame. There may be a letter F in front of the serial number you furnished that is stamped on the frame in the area of the red rectangle. Sometimes you find numbers stamped on a small welded-on rectangular plate inside the C- Channel of the tongue. This corresponds to the green rectangle in the image below. The second location is in or around the area of the lower red rectangle in the image below. Extend your search below and in an arc @9" to the left of the lower red rectangle. On the frame, can you please confirm the presence or non presence of a letter F. Pencil rubbings work sometimes when you can't see it. Cheers, Rod

Hello Rob, I believe I finally figure out how to upload the picture thank you so much. The vin is tamped exactly how you showed in those pictures. The numbers stamped on the inside of the tongue are the beginning ones from the longer number stamped on the outside of the tongue. Thank you 👍🏻 flic.kr/ps/42PcDy

Hi rc,
Okay, that helps.
Just to confirm.
In the green rectangle, do you see 31325?
In the area of the red rectangle, do you see S31325 and then a space and then PA4247? Is there a letter F by chance in front of the S31325 so the stamped serial number would be FS31325?
Please clarify. Also, the PA4247 might not be included in the serial number when it was registered. Do you have any title or registration papers for this trailer? Is the wood inside dark brown paneling or a light paneling? Thanks
Rod

Hi Rod,
Thank you for the quick reply. In the green rectangle the number are 31325, the red rectangle the stamp is faint but can be read it’s S31325 PA4247. I do not see any F anywhere. As for the paper work only a bill of sale. The guy had it up as a 68 but when we got there he saw on the back tag it said it was a 66 but we weren’t sure if that’s correct. We took it to dmv to register they did a full blown inspection didn’t really seem to know what they were doing. They ended up registering it as a 1966 Shasta. The inside is a lighter color . Everything seems to be inside minus the seat cushions. I can add a picture maybe tomorrow of the inside if that helps.

😎. 🍻 The DMV gods ultimately decide what year it is.😆 Based on the pictures and your description of the paneling color, 1966 works. Either one of the years 1966 - 1968 would have matched the trailer. DMV just made the decision for you.
We encourage you to share more of the trailer in the talk about your trailer subforum on this website. We don't see 1400s too often. Your DMV experience sounds like it went well.👊
Cheers,
Rod
