Hello We have called about 7 places (combo of sheet metal and duct places) so far in our area asking about getting new wheel wells fabricated. We got one bid for $485, uh no, and everyone else said they can't make it. I am thinking we must be describing what we need incorrectly (although we even sent pictures)
Does anyone have a concise description in metal fabricator language? What material is used? (Ours are so rusty I can't tell.)
Thanks for any help, we are armed with a new list of fabricators to call tomorrow.

Depending on your location which could make shipping high, I do metal fab and welding. With good measurements or a good drawing, I'm sure I could make you a pair much cheaper than you've been quoted. As far as material I'd do them out of plain old mild steel. They would be painted with primer then a top coat. Some people might suggest galvanized steel. Those people don't weld and have never had galvanize poisoning (no fun!). Keep in mind full sheet of thin sheet metal is only a hundred or less so some of the quotes you got are from bandits.

Thank you, I will certainly keep your offer in mind. I am hoping that we can get them locally and save shipping but it is really helpful to know that price was very high.

I guess worse case it to make them square which is much easier to do and then have them welded. I think square off corners may work. I don't think you will find prefab ones, I looked the other day and didn't find any in the hour or so that I searched. The other thing is to have them sandblasted and see if it is just a few parts that are bad and have new metal welded in?

A piece of cake to make them exactly as per factory.

We have a winner! We found a metal fabricator this afternoon who is familiar with making camper parts. In two weeks we should have new wheel wells. I am hoping this is a long friendship

I thought with a bit of snooping you would come up with something. And something much better than $400.00 plus dollars. Good luck with your project!

I also found this problem in my area trying to get wells for my 62 Airflyte. All the sheet metal shops do industrial work, not small jobs. A welder offered to do it but wanted $450 because they were going to use 1/8" aluminum (cause that's the thinnest they could do). I'm traveling to a larger city soon and called a shop in advance that said they could do it - fingers crossed!
Out of curiosity, about how much are yours costing you? I've seen a few numbers thrown around in older threads but want to get an idea of what I'm looking at.

We finally found the person to do it by googling "sheet metal contractor". It took about six different google searches but we are really happy we found them because they will do small jobs and have experience with camper parts! Both wheel wells together will be about $225 which is a bit higher than others have noted but this type of work in our area tends to be pricey so we were really happy with the price. They will do all the cutting and bending the tabs to match the original.
