Hey y'all! We just acquired a 1966 Aljo Sportsman and are excited to finish restoration on it and hit the road! We are in Oklahoma City and camp at some family owned property in Arkansas along the Mulberry River with my parents, who have a 1968 Airstream. We have a 5-year-old son & 10-year-old Toy Manchester Terrier, who will be our camping companions. Here is a link to the walkthrough video the seller posted: Walkthrough VideoFirst order of business is to get a proper receiver hitch with sway bars for our 1995 Tahoe that we will be towing with. We also plan to repair the old water damage places in the trailer but aren't in a huge hurry. Tips, tricks or any pointers you may have are warmly welcome & appreciated!!

Welcome to the forum. Good place to find out how to do repairs and what to look for. Mobiltec has a bunch of videos on youtube that you will want to watch.
I think the biggest thing to remember is if you are seeing damage inside the camper you are normally seeing the tip of the iceberg. Before getting to deep into repairs do the research on how to fix it right and what to look for. Many of the members have found lots of hidden issues once they really start digging. It normally is fixable just more then you thought.

Welcome 66 Style,
Tom is heading you in the right direction. I agree that seeing water damage inside is a red flag. There's rot behind them. Be sure to research a lot before taking anything apart. Vintage stick and tin trailers must have the skins lifted to do proper repairs; they are fixed from the outside in. You will have access to the sills and akirts that way as well as being able to do a complete inspection.
Nice trailer by the way!

I just acquired a 1966 Aljo Sportsman but can't find anything quite like it. I saw your post, that is the closest, but mine has two axles though it doesn't necessarily seem bigger. It is set up different. I will have to get pictures, I was shocked that I can't find it online.....anywhere. I haven't gone to DMV yet though, so maybe its not a 1966, it says Yr 00 first sold 66.........Thank God I found you guys! I used to work on mobile homes and helped my sister completely redo a canned ham a long long time ago. This will be our new project.
