I thought I had a 1961 but I just learned from Ross that my Compact is actually a 1959. This is where I will be posting my progress as I go. Sorry but I might be reposting a few things on this thread that I have already posted in the past. I would just like it to all be in one place

I don't think I'm speaking only for myself when I say I would be pretty darned pleased to find out any vintage camper I bought is actually from the decade earlier than what I originally thought it was. IMO any 59 model of a camper is going to be more desirable than a 61 of the same model and your Shasta Compact is no exception. Great discovery. Ross knows his stuff!

I'm not surprised. Your wings are a little odd and your stove doesn't have the metal strip across the front where the knobs are. The only thing I find perplexing is that you have the front teardrop shaped marker lights. Most of the early ones, up to 62 and even some 63's did not have them, only rear ones.

The one thing that strikes me is....from what I understand, the Compact was not introduced until the 1960 model year. Obviously that means they had to start building in the previous year, like cars are done. If the trailer was truly built in 1959, and originally registered in '59 prior to the '60 model year (these things all depended on delivery to and through the dealers, and impossible to trace for the most part...) you could be holding one of the most rare of all Shastas. Now that you know that....STOP being such a cheapskate!!

hahaha, I can't help it Ten being cheap runs through my blood. But when next spring comes and I really get going on my camper, I am willing to spend a little on my baby.. I feel like it is like a child to me, I am so attached to it. hhahaha SusieQ I love that you still have the photo and ad on your computer, If I ever decide to get rid of my her, you will be the first person I call I didnt realize that older year the same body style was more wanted by people, I always thought it just went by body style, exciting! I just wish I would have messaged Ross before I went to secretary of state.

I took advantage of this 50 degree day in MI witch is CRAZY for Feb. So I rebuilt 2 of my drawers today, the originals were filled with rat/mouse feces, or who knows what kind of animal. Wish I had gotten a before photo of the drawer together

Very cool set of photos. If SusieQ passes on it I would love to be next in line for "dibs". Personally I am trying to land a '64, to go with my Airflyte. But if a '59 were to be available, I would make it my second choice.... Love what you are doing with this, and I can't wait to see progress and cheer-lead as you make it!

Good job on the drawers, Mel. And I'd be there in a heartbeat if you ever unloaded it. Funny thing, I just noticed the shoe bag hanging on the wall. Too funny!

Sorry my posts are not very exciting right now, but there is only so much I can do in Michigan winter. So I started sewing the curtains today, I am leaving the top unfinished until right before I put them in, so that I can get the height perfect. 2 done, 6 to go
