…..we had GPS trackers placed on things, and I will post the best GPS trackers (I cant recall the names) available for reasonable cost. They were highly effective….. 62…. I'd be interested to hear about the GPS units you've used. I think that is a reasonable and effective way to recover a stolen trailer. I'm wondering if this one is on your list: Sourcingbay: Vehicle Tracking

elewayne...this is a good find by lovnvintage. Don't know why the seller decided not to feature at least one photo of the overall trailer on the curb side in their latest CL ad, to give a feel of what it really looks like, but here is a thread to a Yakaz ad that was featured a month ago, from a previous CL ad I guess, when the seller was asking $7500. Imho, it is a good looking trailer just about the size you mentioned you would like. for-sale.yakaz.com/1953-travel-trailer#lo=4&docid=0002d9l51ke88qn2

What about this one? 24' but so cool. $6500 OBO for 1949 Owosso. dallas.craigslist.org/ftw/rvs/5063564314.htmlI am going to check this trailer out this week, possibly this evening. Owner says it weighs about 4,000 lbs dry = does anyone have experience on this kind of trailer?

I saw the Owosso listing just this afternoon. A really cool trailer, but I don't have the up front budget to pay anything near their asking. Price is high because of rarity though. I can understand that. It's going to take deeper pockets than mine to do it justice as well. that dent in the corner will cost $500 to fix. Then it needs a "super clean up" outside and a great coat of automotive paint to make it really stand out. But it could really be a show trailer at a rally, given the right budget. It needs to go somewhere like Flyte Camp to do the work. I could do the inside but the rest......I lack the experience, really.
The Richardson listing I had not seen, so thanks for sharing, Again a cool trailer but it looks to need a "lot more" work than they seem to think, for the asking. ( They seem very emotionally attached to it, rose colored glassed and all that.) That post office green interior would all have to go. There's no way I'd even consider striping that much woodwork.I'd want a natural wood interior. I don't mind trashing it and starting over but I don't want to have to pay for it first. Pricing is funny for vintage trailers. I have found two Yellowstones, one in Florida, for $1200, my offer, that he accepted then reneged when he got a full price offer for the $1600 he was asking.(no hard feelings) The other one was in New York for $300, but just way to far. I've been looking at a Fan in Michigan for $1500, asking, and I was thinking of offering $1000 since it's not selling, but its over a thousand dollars to go get it.Plus I'd have to replace 4 tires and a safety chain and get temp lights on it for transport and try to get the brakes working. Both my wife and son think its too big at 24' A 19' would be perfect. All three of these trailer had very good shells, a good polishing was about all each one needed outside. I have about $4000 in ready cash to get a new project started. I can come up with money as I go but I don't want to spend every dime I have, up front, and have to wait to get going, but hay, thanks for bringing the listings to my attention. I'm sure I'll find something soon.

The best part of the Fan ad, besides that it has a cool shape and looks like a good candidate for the skills elewayne has demonstrated already is that OBO after the asking price. Definitely worth considering imho.

Wow, that's a nice little trailer. I will call him this morning and I happen to be going to Arkansas this Sunday for a short vacation at Eureka Springs. I might be able to go see it while the wife and I are there. OR maybe it could follow me home. Thanks for the heads up. Wayne

Eureka Springs is a great place to visit. Good Luck with the vacation turning into a trip where a Fan follows you home!

When I was a kid growing up in Tulsa, we went trailer camping, (we started out in a tent ), at Roaring River state park just across the boarder from Eureka, in Missouri. Every year for years. My aunt and uncle had a lodge at Grand Lake in that same corner of Oklahoma they ran as a business. We would often go there for several days at a time too.We usually took a trip to Eureka on any of those trips. In the late 50's it was mostly junk shops and was such a cool place to explore. 1964 may be the last time I was there. I know I'm sharing too much here, but one trip to Eureka we took off from the lodge in my aunt's 58 Buick, green on black, loaded, a real boat. My dad had perfect direction sense so he just took a road that was totally unmarked, going in the general direction of Eureka Springs. A fire road, we decided later, when it turned to gravel with no signs at all. Every house we saw and came to was abandoned, it's hard to farm up there, unless you are raising pet rocks. We finally found a farmer and asked directions but he spoke some foreign language and we got hardly any help from him. When we finally got to a highway we came out just above Eureka Springs. MY father had done it again. We had such a great time being lost. .Now to the best part of the story. along the way we came to a stream we had to ford, it was very shallow though. There must have been something in the water there because there were something like a million butterflys there, of all kinds. Everything natural to that area. They were sitting in groups of their own kind, mostly, on the wet rocks in the stream and the air was totally full of them. We stopped and had our lunch there on the bank with the butterflys. totally amazing.I was maybe 10 years old.

Ok, so my phone was totally dead this morning and I waited to get it charged before calling on the fan. Strange he didn't list the area code with the number so I can't call. I did an email response though so we'll see. That trailer is at least 16 ft and might even be 19 which would be perfect.

I like the one above, as it seems very similar to what we used and the accuracy rating is huge. Using cell towers I do remember were horribly inaccurate. It was always fun when we could actually pick up a car and get real time locations, speeds etc. Now I just hope if I install one, I never have to use it!
Let me know if you try any.
