I feel sick about your trailer being stolen. Sick at heart. I could ask "what in the world is wrong with people" but I'm a psychologist and I actually know. I just don't like it at all. I'm so sorry for your loss.

yea, it's kind of a ridiculous theft. Did someone think it was valuable enough to sell. What I think is that someone put out the word that they were looking for a food truck think and someone stole it for that. I may run across it someday, who knows. I'm looking for another project as we speak. I have found a Yellowstone I'm interested in. wse'll see. Wayne

Well, I guess I may be an addict. I did something really stupid today. Not waiting to find out if the Silver Lodger will somehow come back to me, I made a deal for the Yellowstone I've been looking at. It will be several days before I go pick it up. It's a 19 foot (that's hitch to tail light) Has no interior but the body work all looks to be in pretty good shape. I mean as well as expected for 60 years, some rot but manageable. I'll try to do all the repairs from the inside and not pull the skins if at all possible then start wiring, plumbing, and insulation. Then the fun part, the woodwork. the part I do best. I'll have to start a new build log, I suppose.

The Yellowstone might help keep your mind off of the Silver Lodger while you hope for the best outcome.

Well. the Yellowstone I was looking at got sold before I could arrange a trip to Florida. Rats! So I am now officially looking for a new project trailer. I would love to find an old Yellowstone 19' to 23'model. There are several more trailers that have that same look too. Bowls Arrow and Fan both had a similar trailer. These were long looking with two doors on the curb side.Mostly ,though I'm just looking for old(mid 40's to late 50's), bright aluminum, 19' to 25' long, and cool, in some way. So if any of you guys see something that should be saved and you are not personally interested let me know. Keep in mind that I do live in Houston so the closer the better.Hopefully I can get some spotters out there.Of course I have to keep the upfront cost to a minimum so I can afford to do the rehab. Yes, I'm looking at that one, but it is 1700 miles from home. I'm trying to figure out how to pull it home if I were to buy it. It needs new tires and wheel bearings packed, and temp lights for the pull. Hopefully it has no structural problems and its way far to go just for a look see. It also has no tag or papers of course, so how do I get it across 7 states without several tickets? So yes, I would love to buy that one, but my god, it's just sooo far. The price is right though, and it looks to be in good shape on the outside. Still thinking. There is also a 25' Fan which is a very similar trailer, though I'm not sure how the quality compares, outside of Detroit which is only 1300 miles from Houston. (Some better). However he wants $1500 for a shell with a lot of rot on the inside. That seems a little high but he might take an offer. It was on ebay and he didn't get a bid last go round. I suggested he call me maybe, and have not got a call, though he did answer a couple questions by email. So still looking at the problem of getting it to Houston. I looked at having a trailer transported and that was about $4200 from Albany. Maybe more to get it loaded and removed from a flatbed.(I have no idea how that happens.) Way more than I can afford. Maybe if I was doing a trailer that would be worth $90,000 finished but I'm not. Thanks though, let me know if you see anything else. I'm still trying to figure out how to do decent searches. Maybe someone knows something about that. Wayne Evans

Hi Wayne,
I use "Searchtempest" with "vintage camper" as search criteria and 2000 mile range. After the first page loads there will be a little box to check for "more cities". I almost always find something of interest this way. Good luck with the new search. I have a '65 FAN, seems very well built, but I would wait to find one without all that rot for $1500!

Turbodaddy, I have a question, do the outside walls sit on top of the floor?. The floor is in very bad shape in the Fan. I was wondering if ,to replace the floor, I would have to raise up the whole shell and move the frame out to replace the floor then back in to remount the shell. That's a fair amount of work. On a big trailer like that I'd rather not remove all the aluminum but do framing repairs from the inside. With so much damage I'd expect to pay no more than 700 or so. Wayne

This is powdercoated red and going on the door of my trailer. (Seriously)--- They can figure out if I have a gun or not (yeah, figure yes) That being said, I am FURIOUS and saddened to hear of your loss. I am a retired cop that came from a terribly crime ridden county. When I worked certain assignments, we had GPS trackers placed on things, and I will post the best GPS trackers (I cant recall the names) available for reasonable cost. They were highly effective and I will also research a good spot to put them (can't be obvious but I don't necessarily want to post the details here either if you know what I mean) Anyways, I am truly sorry and heaven forbid those jackwagons show up where I am camping.... Elewayne, cheers to your attitude and your grit and fortitude for a new project.

The really ironic thing about scrapping aluminum is that "scrap" aluminum is not worth anything near what cans are worth. Can's are worth so much because of the redemption price paid. Scrap aluminum from a trailer is not worth the effort to scrap it. I took two complete roofs to the scrap yard and they were only worth $9 each. Total of $18. It's a lot of work to get those roofs off. I thought it was you that I sent that emblem to Wayne. Do you still have it or is it on the trailer? If it's on the trailer perhaps I can have my girl friend put a hex on it. She's a witch you know.... Larry is absolutely correct. If there were copper tubing/wiring, etc, then yes a good scrap idea. Then again, a doper will just about sell/steal anything for any price.
There are many trailer lock boots, ranging from $100-$600. Sad to think we even need to consider these. Just a pathetic shame. Hex the crap out of it...anything helps...

Here's a great hex!
MAY THE BIRD OF PARADISE FLY UP YOUR NOSE (Words & Music : Neal Merritt) Little Jimmy Dickens
One fine day as I was a-walkin' down the street Spied a beggar man with rags upon his feet Took a penny from my pocket In his tin cup I did drop it I heard him say as I made my retreat
CHORUS "May the bird of paradise fly up your nose" "May an elephant caress you with his toes" "May your wife be plagued with runners in her hose" "May the bird of paradise fly up your nose"
The laundry man is really on his toes Found a hundred-dollar bill among my clothes When he called me I came a-runnin' Gave him back his dime for phonin' I heard him sayin' as I turned to go
CHORUS
I was way behind one day to catch the train Taxi driver said "We'll make it just the same" The speed cop made it with us And as he wrote out the ticket I stood by politely a-waitin' for my change
CHORUS

I am in North Texas and have a 1961 Shasta Deluxe that needs to be rebuilt. It doesn't really meet all of your criteria, but if you're interested, it is at least in the state of Texas!
