Yep, it's gonna take a few days, lol. Gotta learn to be patient; one of my challenges. Who knows where this road will lead but I'm all in. Could end up to be a pretty nice old trailer, once she's back in shape.
SuzyQ... I just gotta keep reminding myself that Big Red (pic below) started off as a project also Will look to the fine gals and guys on VTT to keep me motivated as we work towards the goal of bringing Dottie the Shasta Compact back to life. Thanks for all you do on this forum.
I just saw this RJ. Big Red is a beauty. There's no doubt that you have persistence and drive to get 'er done. I appreciate your gratitude. I also appreciate the great pics you are posting of your Compact. I don't have shelter to work on my '65 so even though we got them at about the same time, you're way ahead of me. These second generations are constructed a little differently than the first gens, so you're paving the way for me. Are you going to replace your flooring? Yours looks like a houndstooth pattern. Quite popular during that era. I have the pebble pattern and it's in amazingly great shape. I'm a bit torn about whether to cover it up.

Heat and shelter... you lucky dog! I know, we're very blessed. The pole barn has been up for about 8 years but just now getting around to putting heat in it. Much of it has to do with getting the little trailer "bug" I caught from all of you My neighbor and his buddy whom are HVAC guys, helped me get the propane heater in at the least possible cost. I have no excuse now not to work on the Shasta and see what I can do about fixing her up a bit.

Big Red was fixed up at the expense of my fishing boat which had to be sacrificed. No worries though, it's fun cruizing the old Chevy around in the summer. Ya, we were both distraught when I had to rip up a big chunk of the original linoleum flooring to expose the plywood floor that need fixing in the rear of the trailer (probably a 2 foot deep by trailer width chunk). For now, it's only under the back bench (hidden) so really, no harm no foul unless I have to repair the floor any further forward.... we'll see. One of my big worries right now is how to merely replace or match the paneling I'm removing from the rear.

Twitch, twitch, fidget, fidget Took tomorrow off from work to receive delivery of the propane tank for my shop heater my neighbor helped me install last week. Dottie the winged football on wheels is gonna get some attention this weekend! Not sure what I'm gonna do first but I think I may be able to work on the floor in the rear. Woo hoo! Can't wait. See what you VTT people have done to me, it's all your fault .. tisk, tisk
40,000 BTUs shop/trailer warming power going up. Bawahahahahaha....

Ok, felt the urge to pull the old contact paper off the ceiling panels. Old water damage and dry rot met me. Looks like I may be taking all the skins off to complete the damage assessment. It's gonna be a long road on this old girl I think.

Contact paper, hahaha! I still have one the original pieces of vinyl on mine, too. Can't wait to see what lurks beneath... or above.

For those of you considering propane, before spending any money make sure that you do a complete analysis of the cost of propane in you area vs electric. I used propane in my shop for 15 years before my nephew convinced me to go with suspended electric heaters. I thought he was nuts but last winter kept shop warmer and it cost me about what I was paying a month for propane for the entire heating season. He is a retired HVAC engineer for the U.S. Air Force, I guess he gained a little knowledge at our expense. He explained that in our part of the world electric is one of the lower cost fuels now while propane has went through the roof.

Yep, it may be an adventure of epic proportions, lol No worries though.... it's funny how things land sometimes..really is. After talking to Kim, I think we'll put our due diligence into old Dottie and see what we can do abut fixing her up (initial plan of using a bit of toothpicks and glue is pretty much out the window). Gonna pull all skins off soon, including top and paper mache'ed vent, and see what's what. Gonna be a long haul but looking forward to the ride.

No new flooring, all original. And some Olde English Lemon Oil for the paneling.

Thanks. Didn't mean to hijack the thread by the way...but just wanted to point out ho good it can come out.
I am pretty sure RJ and I have very similar vintage trailers by the looks of the paneling and the flooring. I am lucky with my project in that it was in pretty good shape to start with. This flooring is tough as nails and can be brought back nicely, depending on what is underneath.
