Hey y'all! Since Patreon pulled the Community function for Larry's class here's a place that we can chat and keep up with our projects! This thread is open to anyone that wants to jump in! But I wanted to make an easy spot for us to update each other on progress and share resources.

I'll post the first photo. Here's our Class Project. The 1954 Jewel. We are just about ready for metal skin. I'll be doing the entire metal install job live on line for the class. It will probably be a 4 day long live stream.

Good morning, all, from sunny but cold New Hampshire.
Thanks Larry and Mandy for getting this forum going. I look forward to touching base when I can; I'll want to only buy my next vintage trailer from one of Mobiltec's students, because that way, I know it will be done right.
Missing traveling and nature, but looking forward to it again someday.
Stay well, all!

I've been feeling frustrated and a bit down lately and in the middle of the night when I couldn't sleep I had a pep talk to myself.
If the rain ever stops, of course...

Thanks for creating this space, Mandi! I mentioned to Larry a few weeks back that I am amazed at the community of helpful, kind, knowledgeable people he has brought together. You certainly embody that spirit and ethos! This is prime working season in Phoenix and luckily we haven't gotten any residual rain from the LA storms in a few weeks. Since I don't have a covered workshop I'm in the driveway building walls... I guess you could call this a "Frame-off / Partial" hybrid! Hoping to make some serious progress before the summer inferno sets in...

What recommendations for acid baths do y'all have? I'm feeling a little overwhelmed by options.

What recommendations for acid baths do y'all have? I'm feeling a little overwhelmed by options. If you go to any auto parts store and ask for aluminum or magnesium wheel cleaner acid, it's that stuff. Mix it 50/50 with water.

During one of Larry’s live classes someone recommended using 6” black plumbing PVC, cutting it length-wise, and sealing at each end to create a long trough for an acid bath for longer aluminum parts like window trim and drip guards. Genius!

How's everyone doing? I spent the weekend at our campsite working on the Kit. I got the front more level, the back is still on a tilt, a little unsure what to do about that, was struggling with where I could get my jack underneath because of the size of my jack and all the rocks, trees, and drop off on the street side. I also yanked out the gross carpet in the bedroom and put some carpet tiles down. Had to kinda mix and match under the bed with some regular industrial carpet tile since I didn't have enough of the other ones. So long as no one looks under the bed it'll be fine lol. I also pulled out the old bed and put in a new one. I was alone so I couldn't get the old one up on the roof rack to get it to the dumpster though, so it's under the trailer until we're back next... oh well. Nothing to be done. We might be back next week anyway.
I also got spectacularly stuck in some mud around the back of the park and tried to get myself out for 3 hours before I called to get winched out... apparently I wasted 3 hours, he said that I would never have gotten myself out. I tried everything that I could think of. Branches under tires, creating a sort of nest of branches as a road, the cardboard boxes from the bed underneath the tires. I even walked back to my site and got a 1x6 and a shovel to help dig away some mud... Best part was that I had the black water tank in the back of the car since I was on the way to the dump station and the dumpsters. Bruised my ego a bit (because I needed EVERTHING bruised apparently) and killed my desire to check out a winery that night haha.
How's everyone else's projects going? I feel like I was out on the moon for 4 days!

The most I've done in a long time is get the panel for the closet cut to shape... Sometimes I feel the need to just go hide in the barn. At least I was a little productive... (not sure why my pictures are coming out so big, might have to resize them on the desktop) Whitney

Looks good! Every little bit...
If you're using Flickr, it will allow you to resize the photos before you link them. I use medium to keep them on the page.
