This 59 Airflyte came with an ironing board but it is missing. Does anyone have photos or drawings of an original? I have a photo of one that is in place in the closet but I don't really understand it.

Larry, I think that small wood piece at the highest part of the ironing board spins out of the way and then you pull the ironing board towards you and then lift up so the lowest part of the ironing board comes out of the slot at the bottom.
So, Tom,
Do you remove the cutting board off the wall and then insert the rectangular end into the cutting board slot and slide it back as far as it goes. How was the cover attached?
Thanks,
Rod

It’s like a riddle…how many experienced vintage trailer restoration people does it take to set up an iron board?

It's a riddle because although every Shasta came with an ironing board back in those days, no one has ever felt the urge to iron their shorts at a camp site yet. Perhaps Larry will be the first!

Actually, I think I could see my mom ironing at a campsite. She’d have one of those five pound iron irons and heat it on the gas stove. Heaven forbid her kids would look messy at a Yosemite campground! What if the Queen showed up on an impromptu trip to California?

Thanks, Rod You slide it in a foot is my guess. I have put it in that slot a few times for my wife to iron my t-shirts. Really I saw it and had to figure out were it went and the only spot I could find was to pull the cutting board out. As for a cover I assume you will need to go back to Shasta and buy one or make one. Larry if you need to get measurements of the holder let me know.

I just don't know what that fatter piece on the big end of the board is for or how it is made. I need to make one to complete this 59 Airflyte. It will really tickle the owner I think.

The fatter piece is plained out to except the other board if you look at the photo link I think you will see that but you may need measurements on that so let me know.

Our deluxe has the ironing board but I’ve been told their will be no ironing on camping trips. I just want it to be there so they ask me what it is and how it works. LOL... The wife will love it. She dresses and looks like she just stepped out of the 50s with Lucy. And she owns a Vintage Shop that sells all kinds of vintage stuff. Imagine the displays she will be able to do at the rallies...
