My father recently passed away and we found a super cute ‘53 Wally Byam Traveler on some property. Looking for information on it.

Get some pictures of it. I assume it is the Wally Byam Holiday. wally-byam-holiday.com/wallybyamholiday.com/History.htmlDoes it look like this? Or do a google search for Wally Byam Holiday camper and you will find some more information. I am not sure he had anything else called Wally Byam at least in that timeframe. Pictures will help. If it is the holiday that is one model I would love to do a restore on. Very nice layout.

It’s actually a Wally Byam Traveler, 00004. I’ve heard there were 5 made and this is only 1 of 2 left. Working on pics!

😎. Can't wait.👊
I am always drawn to these trailers with personal histories. Throw in rarity and I am hooked.

Thanks for the photos. It looks like the classic dinette, kitchen, bed layout.

This is a great camper and deserves to be restored right. Don't let just anyone get their hands on it. You are right, this is very rare and sounds like the prototypes that article I referenced is maybe talking about. You should get some measurements as well. Can you post some pictures of the back end and what is to the left of the sink and the bed area? Is that a bath? Here is a link I found on another one vintageairstream.com/photo-archives/195253-byam-traveler-20/

Any suggestions on restoration in the southeast? Any companies or individuals that can do the work correctly?

I agree with Shasta Tom. Have someone do the restoration correctly. She's been through a lot and needs a lot of help. I was amazed that the original flooring was plank oak flooring like in and old house. I wonder what she looked like "out of the box".
Cheers,
Rod

It's interesting that this is a riveted trailer but it appears to be on a wood frame. That would make it a very different restoration than what is done on most canned hams. I'm intrigued!

I worked on an older riveted Boles Aero. There were aluminum wall studs but also wood around windows, wood studs by the door aluminum studs, etc. The floor is especially important in this type of trailer.

Any suggestions on restoration in the southeast? Any companies or individuals that can do the work correctly? Hi Molly, Try Tim Heintz in Panama City Florida in the panhandle. He is the owner of Heintz Designs Vintage Trailer Restoration. He is very well regarded with a lot of experience. Cheers, Rod
