I have the little bitty tires on it right now so I could get it under the breezeway. The regular wheels are being blasted and repainted right now. I have the original moons - do I rechrome or try to find new ones? They would need to be really deep.

Thanks! I know he's a little effeminate, but it's actually a boy. He was named after my great-uncle Leslie "Sparky" Sparks. I'm not sure what Sparky, a cowboy and roughneck, would think of looking like a lemon meringue pie

He would say it was a symbol of the beautiful golden prairie and the clear open sky, and at least he would think it was beautiful.(opps handsome).

Sparky looks great. I know you have had a long journey to get him to this stage. He looks good in his yellow skin. My trailer, Lil Sky, is painted blue but she is a girl. I say she is my tomboy. Again, good job and enjoy!

I have the original moons - do I rechrome or try to find new ones? They would need to be really deep. Get some #0000 Steel Wool and a 6 pack of your favorite beverage and maybe put a movie on the boob toob. Sit down with a news paper under the moons while you go to work on them with the steel wool. You will be surprised at how good they will look with a little elbow grease. I don't care how rusty they are to begin with, give it a shot before looking for new.

I'm listening to this, because I'm in the same predicament. But if mine shine up, it'll be a miracle!!!

I scrapped a pair off of a Compact a year or two ago. They had been painted. I stripped them down and polished them up.. The chrome was a little pitted but they looked pretty good for last year. I am going to paint them in my contrasting color and run'em for a while, Spend the "Moon" money on somethng else.

Dumb question I know but... steel wool and... ?? Chrome polish? Just water? Something special? Weather is turning again.. time to put on a DVD series and go into chrome polishing nirvana mode. More importantly, Sparky looks great!

Privet Aloha, I dont' think that your question is to my reply, however..When I start pulling out the steel wool I usually use a little turpintine. It's like it puddles the steel dust as you sand with it. I've not used steel wool on chrome much, but it works on any "surface rust" well. Scratch the loose stuff off with a wire brush and then go to it. It can give you a dull finish on the chrome at first, but you can buff it out. Works fairly well and cost even less. It works the bomb on aluminum though. Yes you hand will cramp up and it's not a walk in the park, but a few minutes and it'll make you proud. And somehow we all got off thread.. Sparky is a nice looking Trailer!
