July update:
Well folks, I am (dare I say it?) nearing the end. Not quite there- but I am oh so close.
My last post in April was right before I added the vapor barrier to my camper. That went well.
I cleaned up my tongue- bought a grinder ( another tool!!!) and stripped the old paint, primed and painted. Looks good:
I got the new battery and propane 'shelf' made- just need to paint it and then will install. In the interim- I installed the break away switch. It's good to go!
And...can I hear a drum roll please.....we installed the side metal!!!
My 2 brothers helped me on the HOTTEST day here in PA- and we hit some snags w side one...but side 2 was much easier after learning what we needed to do..and it's up !
There are a few dings in it- but I am not stressing at all about them. Not gonna help anything to stress- and it's bound to happen...so I just call them her beauty marks. Ahhhh!!
I have been so happy to start cutting holes and installing the windows. I am just about done both sides- just need a few brows and the door (which I just took apart) and the sides are done! ( Waiting for my brothers to help install the roof and front/back soon).
I even installed the 4 marker lights and tested them with my battery. They work !!! Yahooooo!!
I did screw up big time- while cutting out the door hole I was being safe and cut it a bit too far away from the wood frame. Didn't want to screw up. Well, when I measured later- the metal piece is now too small to use for my door. UGH!!! Had to call Hemmet and have them ship me a piece so that I can complete the door. Big $$ for such a small piece....but I had no other option. Dang !
So today, I took apart the door- dang twisty nails, I thought I was done with you !!!
I cleaned up the aluminum frame and am awaiting my new piece of metal and then will get to rebuilding.
I also am almost done cleaning my wings!!! Gonna save that for last
The one has a big scratch- but I'm ok with that. Not bad for a 56 year old gal
So....the end is near. It's been 20 months ....and I must say I am darn ready to be done. I want to get it out of the barn and into the woods....and soon.
Roof may go up this week- and then the fun begins of installing that. I'll keep you posted !
BTW- I MUST put a plug in for Larry (Mobiltec/Canned Ham Trailers) and his Patreon site. I have been a member since I first got started with my camper- and have virtually attended MANY of his weekly classes. I have learned SO much from him- I could NOT have done this project without him. I have emailed him countless times- and he has gotten back to me quickly to answer any question I have asked. Larry- THANK YOU !!!!!! People I tell about your classes think it is just so cool that you do that- and so do I. You are much appreciated!
And to everyone on this forum- THANK YOU for always answering any question I pose. I refer to this site so many times to get answers I need- or ideas, or to solve a problem. It is just the coolest place to be
I am so happy I stumbled upon VTT....what a ride this has been.
Onward I go.....yahooooo!!!
