It's OK. Lots of original but the panels are ugly. Looks to be early 60s. They did some weird things with wall panels back then...

I agree, the beaded wall panels don't work for me. That said, I think campers with that type of panel look early 70s and command less of a resale price.

Once you know how it works you'll install a Wave3.

This is a "Detroiter Traveler", not a "Detroit Traveler". I know because I just acquired it today on my way back from getting a truck camper north of me in Brainerd. Decided to inquire on this one as it was less than an hour away from my home. After taking a look, I threw an offer of $500 and he came back with $700. Too good to pass up so I jumped at it.
I knew this trailer was going to be really well taken care of, as the owner's place and property is immaculate. It has a clean title and has been an ice fishing house for quite some time. The trailer is 16 1/2 feet in total length, so just about the right size. Here's a few photos I took while there. I'll be picking it up tomorrow and will take a bunch more when I get home.
Vikx - can you move this thread to the restoration section of the forum and title it "1964 Detroiter Traveler"?
Made in my home state of Minnesota!
Notice the faint pink stripe. All original exterior and really straight siding. The bright yellow reflectors are to keep it visible and out of the way of snowmobilers while on the ice at night.
Cool decal on the back.
Interior is in great shape. No staining on the ceiling and just a bit below the windows. I don't mind the beaded paneling - kind of unique in my opinion. The cove gimp is perfect throughout.
Comes with a functional bathroom!
Pink under mount sink and stove to match that exterior stripe.
Vent is in great shape with no sign of water intrusion. The rope shown is being used as an indoor clothes line.
Furnace needs a little clean up but works great. Notice the carpeting on the floor. Didn't get a chance to peek underneath yet - hopefully the subfloor is solid. It felt good anyway.
Some literature I found while doing a bit of research.

Wow. This is your best one yet, BW. I really like the size and the tiny bathroom. It's going to appeal to the ladies! This one may be your keeper.
This type of trailer with great interior is an easier build than some. You can save all of the original panels (and they are OK!) without doing a frame up. It's not necessary with this one. I'm guessing you're going to have my and NC's trouble; hard to dismantle to repair... Lift the skins and prepare for a couple of weeks carefully digging at nails and such.
Both my B & B and NC's Forester were made by boat builders. They build things to float and you CAN NOT get them apart. LOL. We did it, but not easily. I swear without a build they would have gone down the road another 50 years.

Thanks for the encouragement Vikx...
DLW will likely trade me her Maple Leaf for this Detroiter as she was gracious enough to let me buy it! I believe she made out pretty good. I'm trying to convince her of that anyway. Otherwise I might be sleeping in it for the rest of the winter as I kind of acquired it without her approval.

DLW is your partner, therefore we defer... Believe me, it takes more than one to rebuild a camper.
What do'ya think, DLW?

Anything built like a forester or B&B is solid. You’ll find out how solid when you start to work on it.😉
Straight skin saves you $2000 by itself. Congratulations.

Thats a cool name plate. I like the spintop at the end of it. This trailer will look great with a nice repaint.

Hi All. Well as you can see we added to the collection. Not sure how I feel about it, I have not seen it yet. I might want to do some things to this one that you all might not like - think "Glamping". I was checking out Pintrest this morning - the pink is very inspiring!
I just have to let all of you know that BW will not be buying any trailers/campers for the foreseeable future. Please stop encouraging him to check things out! It's like when you want a puppy and you go see a litter to see of you really want one, there is no way you are going to walk away from a cute little puppy and not buy it. BW is like that with trailers. If he goes to see it - it is all over. He can not walk away without buying it.
I am very sure BW will keep you posted. DLW

BW, don't feel bad, my wife took my credit card away from me. I bought a motorcycle years ago without her permission (at least she thinks so, and that is all that counts) and I was in lots of trouble, but she is still with me.
I learned one thing, don't take my wife to look at puppies. I also learned one other thing, it is easier to ask for forgiveness than permission.
I figure it you keep buying the trailers when it comes time for me to do another one I can talk to your wife and pick the trailer I want. So keep saving them for the rest of us.

DLW took my credit card away a year ago, but I always carry a blank check with me. I used that to hold the Detroiter until I was able to pick it up today. Just like you, I typically ask for forgiveness instead of approval. Learned that out in the working world - only way to get things done sometimes.
The previous owner cleaned the snow off the roof, vacuumed the carpets, filled the tires and spare with air, and had the furnace running when I arrived. He then gave me a quick lesson on how everything worked - even changed a rear tail light bulb that was out when we plugged in the electrical. On top of all that, he gave me a 2 5/16" hitch ball required for this trailer. Typical "Minnesota Nice"!
Here's a photo of the Detroiter hooked up to my truck and ready to tow home. Made the 1 hour trip without a problem, and is now sitting outside waiting for DLW to tell me where to store it. I've used up the space in front of my shop, so need to find an alternate location. I'll take a bunch more photos tomorrow.

BW, is that rear bumper stock for that model? My '63 Comet had something similar going on that didn't seem original. I ended up removing it. The shape and layout is very similar to mine so I'll be watching closely. Nice score!
