I purchased a Shasta Compact a couple of days ago. I have seen it in person but won't have it home for few more days. I have a lot of questions and am looking forward to drawing on all the knowledge here during my Shasta's restoration period. I hope that in the future, I'll be able to share something from my experiences which will benefit others.
I'm a seasoned teardrop traveler, so this is a BIG step up for me.
Thanks for all the things I have all ready learned from this site.

Yes it does. I also have some tracings which I made for those out there that need them. I only ask for postage to mail them along.

Mine has it and all of the cabinetry is in good condition. I was just curious as to the years which had it originally. I read it started in 60 and had ended by 64. And that only 62 and 63 had the canvas bunks.

Actually mine had the bunks also. I did not reinstall them in the rebuild. the rails were there but not the canvas bunks.

Hey, I know that one...still have it on the bottom of my watch page list on ebay...I took a long look at our finances when this listed. But alas, there is the winter slowdown coming right up....
I am glad you found us here, and I am looking forward to following along with your findings when you get this home. You probably already know the tricks to dating the age of these...the date stamps on the mirror and the underside of the sink. The serial numbers on it can help narrow down the date of build too, to some degree. I would say you are on the right track, that this seems to fall in the '63 range, so it'll be interesting to find out.

Boy SuzieQ, that is the spittin image of my 61! I am not an expert but I have noticed that some of the later models have another set of marker lights in front. Mine did not. The icebox is even the same color as mine and the gas light is identical to what I had.

Boy SuzieQ, that is the spittin image of my 61! I am not an expert but I have noticed that some of the later models have another set of marker lights in front. Mine did not. The icebox is even the same color as mine and the gas light is identical to what I had. Thanks, 61, that's what I'm thinking. I too, noticed that there are no front marker lights and I looked for signs where they had been and there are none. And the rear marker light looks yellow. I don't know if that was what they used back then or if it is just faded but I know that the legal requirement for modern trailers is red in back and amber in front. The suspense is killing me. But the man who sold it to me thinks it's a 63. It also has no bumper. I don't know if it never had one or if it just got "lost." But I will have a bumper made for it. The wings are aluminum but they are almost smooth. I don't know if that is from aging or if they came that way. There is what I think is a water tank fill on the street side towards the back. It has the electrical plug, on the outside, a vent in the side where the water heater is in the closet, and two more connection or outlet things that I'm not sure about. It also has a small breaker box in the closet. There are no water tanks with it. The stove looks like it has never been used, and I'm not kidding! I found it funny that the man who sold it to me told me the refrigerator didn't work. I told him that was OK because it was an icebox. He's older than I, so he should have known what was.

My husband was out on sea trials with a new Navy ship when I bought the Shasta. He's on his way in, still in the Gulf, and I talked with him just long enough to tell him I bought a vintage trailer. Then we lost signal. LOL!
