Well that's better than "Honey I just had the baby and it's a".......................lost the signal. Funny, but I was in Ohio camping with my son this past August and my son had a nasty bicycle accident. My husband was on the ship (in a shipyard) and normally doesn't have a signal. I called and said, "I'm taking our son to the ER.... lost signal."

SusieQ I have a feeling that he probably has come to expect things like that from you. Yep, you already know me well! But the things I tow home seem to be getting bigger. He was gone last time, too.

HOME AGAIN, home again jiggety jig --- 9 hours later after what should have been a 4 hour trip. Made one big mistake and I'm not tell you what it was because I knew better! But after we got rolling out of the McDonald's parking lot, we made it just fine!!!
I love her. She's almost perfect!! Minus a little rot and a couple of leaks and a missing window pane ... you know, the normal things. The man who sold her has sellers remorse and I'm glad I wasted no time paying him and getting a bill of sale earlier in the week because I think he would have sold her before I got there today, even though I won her in an auction. He was glad to see me take her away so people would stop asking him about her.
And he sure was nicer the day I went to pay him. He did weld me a nice drop to my receiver bar so she didn't tow too high in the front.
The inside is really is amazing. I want to go CAMPING!!!!

Aww come on now. We all learn from each others mistakes. I have a saying in my videos that I make mistakes so you don't have to. So how bout it? We promise we won't make fun. It's probably something a lot of people do.

Haha, Bigbill. Nope. Came out and had a flat. Originally, I was going to put new tires on it before towing. But the tires I want have to be ordered. So when I went to see it and pay for it, my friend piped up and said, "Can't you just put something on it to get her home?" Now, my intuition and gut feeling is ALWAYS right, but I'm a not terribly assertive in the presence of those with more extroverted personalities. So, it sounded OK at the time but my gut kept telling me "No." Normally, I do everything I possibly can by myself, and usually don't ask for help unless I fail miserably. But I had a gut feeling I needed to take someone along with me to get it home and I was right. My friend and her husband (Mr. Fix It) were with me and it turned into an adventure which we actually enjoyed, only because we are all friends and had such good time together despite the circumstances. I do have a new floor jack and several extra cans of fix a flat and two trailer tires that have the wrong bolt pattern and another 12v air pump, another 4 way lug wrench (unused). And we drove over 100 miles to find these things.
I took hubby's truck, otherwise, I would have had all of the above minus tires.
I had a great conversation with Andy's Towing, "I not know anything about this, this grocery story" So we had lots of fun jokes about that one in our best comical and politically incorrect accents.
And Lowe's was extremely helpful in helping to find the tires that didn't fit at another Lowes in the next town. I'll be seeing Lowe's TOMORROW... my error.
I did have my duct tape, magnetic tow lights, adapter, extra chains and links, a legal permit to two unregistered and good thing I had those lights because I towed in the dark.
Towed the last leg by myself. Had planned on taking a longer route home to avoid the one lane train bridge, one lane creek bridge, unpaved road and S S curve up the little mountain, but by this point, I just wanted to get home and took the short route and she ( I think I'll call her Susie) just followed me right up the mountain.
Seriously small mistake - I had planned on taking all three original glass light globes off and wrap and pack them but my friend said they should be OK, if we just make sure they're on tight. Forgot to make sure they were on tight. Rear one fell off (it's quite pretty, too). It was in the galley area floor, totally intact. And the front one, was about to fall and would have broken when it hit the counter or sink, but it survied too, along with the gas light globe, whew!!!
Wish it was warmer. I'm still thawing. Can't wait to get to work on her!

Thanks for sharing SusieQ. Your mishaps back up everything we talk about not only for towing safety but for keeping the trailer in one piece while traveling. Globes should be stored during travel. Tires do a heck of a lot of damage when they lose the tread or just come apart during a flat. Good enough is usually not good enough.

No closer to knowing her age. Nothing behind the mirror. Can't find anything under the sink. Did find numbers on the tongues. There's a whole string of letters and numbers stamped on the tongue which match the numbers, not the letters, on the data tag. There are two letters and five numbers a space and two letters PA and four numbers. The plate on the inside of the tongue, has the same five numbers as the first five numbers on the tongue but there are no letters on the plate. So, I don't know how old it is or what the actual VIN # is. Learned how important it si to wear protective eye wear and clothing when you are brushing off the tongue to find the numbers But one cool thing I noticed today is that the paper floor plan diagram is still stapled in side the closet door next to the breaker box. How cool is that? And the tires are still holding air.

I believe the numbers on stamped on the tongue and on the plate on the tongue and on the data plate ( a California DOC plate with all the numbers plus a CA DOC number) are original. They all match with the exception that the plate on the tongue does not have the letters. Numbers are the same first five digits on tongue without the letters: DS18xxx PA12xx. I would really like it know the real year.

Just picked the hubby from the airport and brought him home for the tour of our my new Shasta. He doesn't seem to share my enthusiasm. He was expecting me to bring home something much newer he said. Hmmm. I told him for $10-15,000, I'd be glad to. That seemed to change his thinking a little. He also said the wings looked "dumb." ANd, NO, Aloha, you still can't have them . Wow, some men know how to rain on a girl's parade. I'll be OK... . Care to join me?
