If anyone knows where I could purchase one of these magnets that would be great to know. If someone has an operational unit just laying around that they have no use for I would be happy to purchase it from You. Two would be great then I would have a spare. i can get the complete 7" brake system through Amazon.com but the ones listed has an 11/16ths inch set back and My backing plates are only about a 1/4". I just do not thain that the ones from Amazon would work unless My axles would be machined back to allow for that much set back. Another option would be to buy the set then see of the components from the new set would fit to My backing plates. Any help would be gretly appreciated. Maybe even someone else has had this problem and found a solution for it. The brakes on the campers trailer were non functional before so i know that I can run without them but, i wouldrather have them working. Thank You Martin IMG_2989 by Martin Draper, on Flickr

I'd ask Trailertrasher
He has everything. I get the best parts from him.

If you use the message link above and type in Trailertrasher he'll get it.
Mobiltec did a video on his storage units filled with part. Amazing.

Also I've been told it's cheaper to buy the whole brake than just the magnet. This is a good company to get the brake assembly from....... www.etrailer.com/p-23-469.html

Too much back set. BBack set on Mine are about 1/4" and the ones shown in etrailer looks to be the 11/16ths back set. the only way I could get around that would be to get the spindles machined back which would not be a bad deal, except for, the spindles are mounted to a torsion axle and there is no way that I can see to seperate the spindles arm from the axle.

And that's the reason I let my husband deal with stuff like this. I think my eyes just crossed..... Quite simple You see. Instead of being a slight dish inwards towards the axle, the newer units has a deep bowl inwards towards the axle. LOL

I have Not heard from trailertrasher yet. I was looking at the pics. of the brake system that is on amazon. I was looking them over real good and comparing that braking system to the ones that are on My backing plates. I just do not think that those newer style of brakes would work on My plates. close but not close enough. For almost sixty bucks plus freight I just do not want to take a chance. I can put that money elsewhere on the trailer and be certain it will fit. LOL There is a trailer repair shop here, it may be possible that he might have a magnet too. biggest problem with that is, it is frigid cold here, I do not like to fire uip the pigup just for one little errand. Maybe later I will be out and about and will check with him.

So if you have a local shop it might be worth it to buy one and try it, then return if It doesnt fit.

When I do go, i will take along the backing plate and compare components, that`ll save me from having to make the purchase then take it back to them. LOL
