Hello,
Just bought a Shasta. Went to look at a truck with a friend and saw this trailer under the shed. Needless to say I own a trailer but my friend could not get the deal done on the truck.
I have sent the vin to Ross to help id the trailer. Title says 1963 Shasta but no model. From what I can find it looks to be an Astrodome.
In pretty decent shape but I plan to do some remodeling. I want it to pull behind a 1952 Suburban which is still under construction. Wife says too many projects but if you don't have projects what is there to look forward to.
Once I start remodel I will put together a build thread on it. (If someone can tell me how to insert a picture here I will so you can see it as found.)
Thanks for a great forum, Dan

Welcome to the forum. You will find answers to all of your questions here. Do yourself a favor and don't start tearing the interior apart before you fully understand the importance of the design and structural integrity of the cabinetry. I suggest you watch the videos that Larry Walsh has on his site @ Canned Ham Trailers. He is known on this site as Mobiltec. Also, I understand that there is a book of information available from Vikx at a cost of $25.00. I have heard it is packed with invaluable information for rebuilders.

Let's try this. See if you can open in a new tab. Right click, then open in new tab. If this does not work I will try again later.

Looks like a fairly nice clean trailer. You definitely need to see what's going on under the skin with all that water staining, especially the rear window where the PO installed that a/c unit, lotsa damage there.
Good thing is you have all original parts it seems, which is great for those like my husband and I who are doing a restoration as close to original as possible
You're in good hands with all the help you'll get from the great people on here.

I agree with msgoehring, it looks like an excellent candidate for restoration. And definitely take a look under the skin for rot. Where there is water staining there is almost always some rot.
Have fun.

Potty close at rear, side gaucho bed, and front hangover = Astrodome... You are correct, sir. Looks in great shape, perfect restoration candidate. Congrats on walking into such a great find.

Not to worry.
Trying to decide whether to paint or polish the skin when it comes time for that. Also, modernize or retro inside.
Any pictures or threads on those topics.
Thanks, Dan
