I tried to clean up my drawer pulls yesterday, but I am not happy with the results. I few of them look ok enough to use, 2 of them will not shine up at all and are pretty dull, those are the ones started off green from ageing. Has anyone spray painted them chrome? how have they held up in time?

I'll be interested in the replies because I will need to spray paint our table leg with Chrome-like spray.

I used chrome paint on a license plate holder. It matched the chrome circle cap/name cap but as you can see the paint doesn't have the same reflective quality. Any raised marks will still show.

I sprayed the hubcaps on my 1962 Trotwood with the chrome spray, they turned out well, I hope your drawer pulls turnout well.

Can you share what type of chrome spray you used?

Overall I was happy. I can't remember if I bought it at Lowes or Home Depot. I would buff the handles with steel wool to remove some of the pitting. And try it on one first. My guess is that paint on handles will need redone every couple of years.

I just picked up some rustoleum spray paint, the same as the one pictured in nccampers photo. But I didnt think about the primer while I was there, Ill have to pick some up. I will post photos in a few days after they are done and dry. I figure I will just try it out and see how they look, eventually down the line if Im not happy with them I can just buy the new ones from VTS for 6.50 each nccamper did you use primer? also I have stripped the back end of one of my screws holding the 5th one in, I cannot get it out. My next thought was to take the multi tool and either saw the screw head off(if I cant get behind it) or saw a slit into the screw to put my screwdriver. Any one else have any better ideas? the head is not big enough to hold with plyers, its too rounded.

Spray some blaster on the screw before going further. I think slotting the head is a good idea or cutting the head off. Where there's a will, there's a way...

I primed first. Light coats and let dry completely. Kirkadie, alsacorp.com/killer-chrome/ looks excellent. A little better reflectiveness than Rustoleum. I wonder how it would hold up?

I'm guessing if the hot rodders use it, it should do OK. I'm thinking of using it on Scotty's hub caps, since, even though it's pricey, it's cheaper than some OEM Scotty caps I've seen on eBay.

I learn the hard way sometimes, so I sprayed one of my handles and one knob just to see how I liked it. The directions said if you wanted to add another coat to do so before the first hour or after 48 hours, so I put on two coats. Then I kept reading the directions and it said it should be dry to the touch after an hour, so I went to pick them up thinking they would dry, but guess what? they were not. haha so I let them dry and had to strip the finish off, now they are ready to start over again.

Here are how they turned out, I just did two for now to see how I like it. Going to stare at them for a few more days before I make up my mind. Front is original, back is spray painted. bottom two are sprayed one of them had some rust sticking up that would not come off, top is original

I think we are twins who have never met. I did the same thing with my tag light. It still has a thumb print in it. And that was after I redid it.

A trade off. You lose something and gain something with the spray.
Kirkadie, alsacorp.com/killer-chrome/ looks like it might be better.
