Here is the curb side that I got on yesterday. It's rainy, cold and we have a birthday for my 3yo cousin to go to today. I am probably not working on the camper. Enjoy the rest of your weekends!

Hello all! I had the flu last week and this week my wife has strep. The joys of a 2 year old in daycare. Anyways, the insulation is done on the trailer sides. Now I can finish putting on the street side skin and front and back skins. I also sanded all unfinished wood inside the trailer. Went to SW and had them match the prefinished ceiling panel stain. Took them 3 days, but it looks really good. Got everything on the inside stained and brushed on a coat of Minwax Polycrylic. This is my first time using this stuff. Love it so far! Dries a bit faster than the Mixwax Polyurethane and is almost odorless. I will get pictures posted once the final (3rd coat) is on. Have a good day!

I love that you put drawers in the benches, now you wont have to bend down to look in like i'll have to with my sliders Love looking at all your progress, I hope mine turns out as nice. did you just have a nice employee that matched the stain? or is that something SW does? Did they mix you a custom stain?

They had me bring a few pieces of wood that represented what was in the trailer that needed stained, along with what was pre-stained. When I got it back it had 9-10 different "matches" on the test pieces that they had tried. I was very pleased with their match/mix. The drawers in the bench was my wife's idea. I didn't initially want to because it meant more work, but I am very pleased with the results and agree that it will be so much easier to access what's in the drawers. The center won't have a drawer but will still be accessible by flip down front, as well as baggage door access from outside.

Happy Friday! Today my wife sanded drawers and clear coated them She also veneered the shelves edges and sanded and clear coated those as well. I peeled up tape from the floor (from staining/clear coating cabinets), put on outlet covers, clear coated the inside of cabinets, put up our backsplash, and cleaned up my garage a bit. Overall, very happy with what we got done. Backsplash pics below. We aren't 100% sure if we like it, but it wasn't expensive and it can be changed pretty easily. It will work for the time being though. Have a great weekend everyone!

Hello everyone! Took the majority of last week off from the trailer. Received a call yesterday that my special order Wilsonart laminate was in. Spent last evening and tonight doing the counter tops. Still have to do a new splash guard next to the oven and also want a small shelf above the dinette table. Both will be laminated. I am hoping to do plumbing tomorrow. Both water and gas. I have yet to try the stove/cook top. Lol. But at least it looks pretty. I have some trim I want to run by the end of the weekend as well. It will be to cover splices and whatnot. This past weekend I did pick up the material to make drawer/door fronts. I would like to finish that by next weekend so they can be stained/finished/hung. The hinges were ordered this past weekend and should be here tomorrow or Thurs. Also, pretty sure I want to paint the cook top grates white. Not sure yet though. I will post more pictures once I get things accomplished. Have a great night!!

Last evening I spent QUITE A BIT of time getting the sink in. The sink "clamps (plastic/metal) are HORRID! Also got the "splash guard" next to the oven laminated and done. Tried the hand pump and it worked. Took it apart and cleaned out the lady bugs that had made a home. Soaking in vinegar for a few days just to clean it up. Did not get any of the actually plumbing done. Will work on that this weekend hopefully. Going to try and do some odds/ends this evening on the trailer. Will post more pics when available. Have a good day everyone!

Good morning! Spent Friday evening and Saturday morning running trim to cover splices/seams that were out in the open, as I failed to use gimp. Looks really good though. My dad was over late morning/afternoon to finish up the propane. Everything works. He's a bit "old fashioned" and uses the lighter test for leaking fittings. Scares the crap out me, but it DOES work. He found 2 minor leaks where the fittings needed tightened. Cooktop works great. Gas light works great. He had turned on the oven to test it and DID NOT realize that there was a substantial leak in one of the fittings. That almost resulted in missing eye brows/hair, but thankfully nobody/nothing was hurt too bad other than his ego. He had to re-flare the fittings and that fixed it. Oven works great as well now. I am going to start making door/drawer fronts this evening. Changed out all my saw blades last evening, since I am going the route of heavyD and using 1/4 in. I will post pics once I have pics to post. Have a wonderful week everyone!

Man oh man what a great job you are doing with everything, just the right amount of modern and vintage touches I think. You do disgust me though.. to be doing things so fast and professionally! I'm an idiot with my hands, although I'm getting better. Someone that can do cabinets for a living I would think can do this type of stuff pretty well, it sure is a talent. I've been seeing the photos for a little while now I just wanted to give a shout. Have a good one!

I actually miss working in that field. It's the systems (electric/plumbing) that take a toll on my mental state and I always require my dad's help. Thank you so much for the kinds words. That in itself is rewarding.

novrmyhed love the backsplash, where did you get those tiles from? and how did you adhere them to the wall? mel, this is sorta embarrassing really....but they are As Seen On TV tiles. They are true aluminum. I have the deep cuts on my fingers still to prove it, but are thin enough to be cut with heavy duty scissors. They are also currently on the wall with peel/stick strips that are included. LOL. We were NOT sure if we would like them or not and did not do anything permanent. If we decide to stick with them, I will use PL adhesive and make permanent. I purchased them on Amazon. One is polished, the other is not. Each box has 24 and I only needed two boxes, one of each. I believe it cost me $20 for both. We were interested in using the backsplash "panels" that you can purchase at the big box stores, but all total that would have been $80-100 for everything we needed, and still weren't sure on looks, so I found these as a temporary alternative. Again though, I would happily consider these as a permanent solution, just NOT with the peel/stick foam strips they send. Hope that winded explanation helps. Lol

Good evening all! I spent the last couple of evenings making doors. Finished them this evening. I used HeavyD's method and made a 1x frame and then a quarter inch front. (http://vintagetrailertalk.freeforums.net/thread/5825/build-cabinet-doors). I was able to start sanding them tonight. I will hopefully get them sanded for this weekend, so we can stain and clear coat them by the end of the weekend. And the little guy in this picture is the reason for doing all of this. That's my son and his grandpa (my father). Have a good evening all! I will post more pictures when able.
