Where would I find the VIN# on a 1962 Trotwood Lark? Was told it should be in the closet but can't find it. The tongue is painted so I plan to use a wire brush to see if its there. DMV here in TN said I can apply for a new VIN# if one can't be found but it would be so much easier if I can find it.

Some campers had the VIN posted in more than one spot. I have to believe the primary VIN# location is on the Lark's tongue, with the closet possibly being a secondary spot, but I have not heard many vintage camper owners mention a VIN located in the closet. I do know our esteemed Member ben finished a rebuild of a 1962 Lark and posted comments in December 2013, so you might want to open his pics thread and/or send him a PM and get so much good info from him about his Lark experience. vintagetrailertalk.freeforums.net/thread/1085/1962-trotwood

Thanks. That's why I wanted to ask because I noticed that most people are talking about it being on the tongue. So I'll look there.

I am not an expert on Trotwood trailer serial numbers but that could vary well be the serial/vin number. Many early trailers had small vin numbers. My Shasta has one letter and five numbers.

The plaque says it's the serial number. I'm just confused on whether there are two different numbers. Is there a VIN# AND a serial # or are they one in the same? Should I Co tinge looking for another number or is the serial number going to work to get my title?

They are the same they used to be called the serial then later the VIN (Vehicle identification number)was it's new name. This came about when they started keeping computer records.
