You're right. That interior "won't buff out" either. Thanks for the warning about not eating while watching. I had to put my meatloaf sandwich away when I started the video.
But I know you will make it shine in the end.

Thanks yall! Slowing up a bit waiting for the new roof skin to come in. (plus have been sick) The skin I'm getting is oversized and should go from top of front window to bottom of back window and be wide enough for side trims to take place. Should have enough skin to add some strength and dome under skin. Also used wider roof sticks. Instead of using 1x2's like Shasta did, I used 1x3's and 1x4's. (left overs after ripping down the needed 1x1's for ceiling side frame sticks, more strength and less trips to Lowes LOL) Anyway fixing the bad front panel above the fridge and got the roof insulated. Ever wonder what to do with all that left over paneling? Be back with yall again in a couple days after the new roof skin arrives from Cali. Hopefully be painting the exterior before the new roof skin arrives.

Let's take a ride on Heavy Metal! www.youtube.com/watch?v=JNG_Kn-m73MIt's Green foam board. Lowes keeps changing sizes, prices, and availability of Perma R foam board like I usually use. It is white with foil on one side. The green stuff was what I could get at the time of need, in the proper thickness. So here is where we are at now. Sense the roofs of this year of compact are always week in the back half of roof surface I topped with paneling for strength then ran 2 foot wide automotive insulation/sound proofing double foiled bubble wrap down the middle to achieve dome in the center for drainage. I am using putty tape under skin flap too sense I had extra skin on the sides to trim off.

Yuck! Looks like you are having great fun Soup. What are your plans for the interior, I ask because we have a 1500 with the same lovely interior paneling and I wondered what people do with all that blond wonderfulness? Paint it, leave it or rip it out and replace with something beautiful? So I wondered what are you going to do?

My plans for the interior are to add a gas light and leave the glamping to the next owner! I plan on selling after structure, exterior custom paint job (Teal & Pink); axle bearings/brakes etc are finished. I like to leave the wood so next owner can see condition of all after I replace rotted areas. I'll leave the interior glamming and painting to the next owner. If it were going to be mine, and was in great shape, I'd clean with Murphy’s oil soap and leave it and camp for a while. In a year or so, paint it. Then a year or two after that replace when delam is too much to handle. It's all about personal budget, always is and everything is really. This one, the interior side panels can be replaced from inside. They don't overlap anything and I'll have already replaced all the ceiling panels and back wall panel will be replaced by tomorrow. Re-do it all in birch... A little late now that the roof is on but I think it would have looked nice.

Just a question for down the line, but what is the price comparison for re-doing an entire interior 1)new paneling resembling the original vs. 2)the older style birch finished to a wonderful glowing shine?

It takes about 14 sheets for the average 15 footer. I have been paying $24 a sheet lately. Two gallons of shellac. One amber and one clear. I buy by the quart because it is so much easier to manage than a whole gallon and gallons are not sold everywhere anyways. Quarts are about $13 each at HD. Add new gimp in there too at around 25 cents a foot. This of course all depends on how dark or light you want it.
