It's a Shasta. My vent was 7" from the side.

I'm listening. This was obviously a trouble spot on this trailer.

Your old framing on yours is actually better than the earlier models. The actual vent frame was only connected to one rafter on one side on the older ones. The other three pieces were just fastened to the roof panel.
I did the 1/4" plywood crown and I ended up with a buckle, or a crinkly (looks like those new Shastas in one spot) in my roof at the curve, mostly my fault because I made it do something it didn't want to, not really sure the crown had anything to do with it, but the extra rafter I added might have.

Wow, only attached to one rafter? Yikes. Don't suppose you have a pic of the plywood crown you put on yours so I have a visual on what Larry's referencing. I have an idea but a photo reference would help.

I don't think I do, but Vikx has one here somewhere. I just cut 4 strips of plywood the size of my framing for the vent and nailed/stapled it on the framing boards. Then I took my electric sander and beveled the edges and corners a little so they wouldn't cut through the tin when it's stretched over it. Here's the one I did for my round solar vent on the other side in my closet.

It is a piece of framing or plywood that raises the surface the vent sits on so that water doesn't puddle around the vent. If you watch my roof installation vids on the 57 Westerner it will show you how to avoid buckling by getting ahead of yourself with the stapling down and folding over of the metal around the vent area before you get there. Your vent is so close to the edge that I would only use 1/4 inch thick plywood... It's enough of a slope to shed water away from the vent.

Thanks, RJ. I should have done two on each end but I think I screwed or nailed it from the other side, too. And my square vent looks like Mobil's pic.

It's always a great feeling to get the lid back on. It gives you a feeling of light being seen at the end of the tunnel... Good job Rory.

Checked fit on the new vent (gotta wait for the big brown truck to drop some supplies to finish the job), buttoned down Dot's top, and got busy on the curb side hatch and front skins. Got quite a bit done today. Tomorrow, gonna work on the final rear skin install and start cleaning up the skin edges and J rails (got a new wire wheel for my Makita grinder today I'm itching to try out). It's a good weekend Thanks for looking.
