You were close on the year. Your Compact was born in Leola, Pennsylvania in 1974, probably mid year.
Thanks for your vin#.

Thank you,Ross. T got a title when I purchased in PA that said 1969, had a time finding the vin on the tongue to confirm I got the right title with the trailer! At least the vin checked out! I have already registered it in NY with the 1969 year ... not sure if I will correct it right away ...will see. It is good to know the truth either way. Thank you for collecting and maintaining the data base .. with the crazy Shasta your efforts are invaluable!

Ross, I'm new to the forum. I started Restoring Vintage campers, I'm working on a 1972 Lark presently and now have bought a Shasta Astrodome that had been sitting in a woods for over twenty years. Its vin is P33??. I know it was manufactured in Leola, Pa. Not sure of the year. I tried the sink and mirror trick with no luck. I think it is either a '63 or 64'. What do you think? I have the whole vin just did not want to post after reading other post here.

I would appreciate it if you could PM me the entire vin#. Again, It never gets posted anywhere!! I don't keep the owner's info, where the trailer has been or where it is now. All I keep is the Vin# itself. It really helps to date other Shastas. Thank you.

Hi Ross, I own a 66 16ft including hitch, 7'3" on the outside, vin # V20964. I have not seen one that has 4 vanity widows near the top as this one does. Are these optional? Anyway can you please decode the vin # for me?

You defiantly have a 1966. Would love to see some pictures of your Shasta. Is it an Astroflyte or maybe a 1500? Those models seem to be the main ones built in 1966, at the Indiana plant.

Thank you so much. If you would like, you can go back and EDIT your post and remove your vin# or I can do it for you.
Thanks again!

Hi Ross,
New here, and new to forums. Hope I'm in the right spot to ask you this... I have this Shasta camper that our adult son came home with last year, and has now lost interest in. I'm in love with it, and would love to restore it, but here MN without the title, he didn't come home with, it seem's almost impossible to register it. Hoping you can tell me more about it. It's year, model, and the best way to go about selling it, since I can't legally drive it on our roads? It's vin is V21902. I've only learned it's location, from the V. It has been almost completely gutted, but has to yet be stripped down to the bones, as it needs due to water damage. The only thing left is the bunk, the sink, and most windows are intact, and functional. The frame is good, and so are the tires. Just trying to decide if I should sell it on Ebay, or part it out, in your opinion.
Thanks,
Kimberly

Hey Kimberly,
It is difficult to tell you what model you have, without pictures of the actual trailer. However, based on the vin#, your Shasta was born in Goshen, Indiana in 1967. During that year, Compact's and 1500's were main the models being produced.
Would love to see a picture or two.
Hope this helps a little bit.

Ross, We just picked up our project Saturday and begin work on it this weekend. I would love to know exactly what we have. The prior owner wasn't sure of the exact model year. Based on the research I've done I'm assuming it's an early 70's model made in South Carolina. It's a Shasta 1400 and her serial # is S5562. Here are a couple of pics to hopefully help you identify her. We also have the wings but I removed them before we began the trip home. Thanks for you help.

Thank you your Shasta 1400's vin#. You are correct, she was born in Columbia, South Carolina, but not in the 70's. The vin# show she was born in 1968.
Look like you will have a fun project!
