Hey everyone, we just bought this Shasta. Almost positive it's a 1400. The seller believed it was a 1972 but we think it might be older based on some of the VINs posted on this thread. The VIN is P17288. Thanks for the help! flic.kr/p/2jYgstqTo me, IMHO, 72 sounds about right. 1) Upper front side marker light (after 68)
2) Framed window panes which started in 69/70?Thank you for your input whitneyK! I can't say I know the differences between 1970 and 1972. But I know that there was someone else here on the board who said they had a 1970 Shasta with a VIN of 172XX so I figured ours should be really close to that. But maybe I'm wrong.

Vikx, is this just for folks who haven’t put their trailers into the database, or are we starting over again?

I closed the first database at 60 pages. This is thread II, anybody can list their VINs here and hopefully get some answers. 60 pages is a LOT to wade thru!

The VIN is P17288. Thanks for the help! flic.kr/p/2jYgstqIt is a 16SC, 16 feet bumper-to-ball, 14-foot cabin, bathroom with shower (which is not an option in the 1400).
I'm the owner of the "172XX", which was registered as a 1970. According to the VIN database, it should fit in the run as a 1971 model, which means it may have been sold early in the model year by a dealer and registered originally in 1970. My guess is that yours was also a 1971 model year build. Again by the same possibility, it may not have been sold originally until later and was registered as a 1972.
As far as registering and titling, it is easiest to use the information in paperwork that supports the heritage of the trailer, while in most states, changing such a factor as the model year may seem pretty impossible.
I would love to see your trailer sometime, as it is so close in its heritage to mine...

Thank you so much!! This is extremely valuable information! And I know for a fact the bill of sale is wrong since it has it listed as a 1400 so when getting the title this week we'll have to make sure to log it in under a 16SC. I had wondered what the difference was between the two since they look identical and have the same original layout (from what I've seen in brochures and remodels) The bathroom and closet do make a difference! I haven't figured out pictures on this site yet so I'll email what it looks like now. We're gonna do some refurbishing but yeah it would be really cool to see yours as well since they're so close in manufacturing!

Hello, we recently purchased a Shasta Model 20. VIN: V14896. We rebuilt a ‘66 Shasta Compact last year and I know the “V” means it’s from Goshen, like our Compact. Just want to confirm model and year.
I’m on my phone so I can’t upload pics right now. Thanks in advance!!

Hello,
I got a Shasta Compact, and I miss read the VIN, I missed a number. So I need you update the wrong one, and see if you can date it from the correct VIN
Compact - Wrong vin I gave S3603 Correct VIN - FS 23603 Looks to me to be an 65 to 66 compact by pictures. and the stripe on it.
Also, I just bought another Shasta, This one I know all the info about, So this is just for your information.
1962 Astroflyte FS 20355
Thanks for all the help.

Correct VIN - FS 23603 Looks to me to be an 65 to 66 compact by pictures. and the stripe on it. It appears to be a 1963 built in the Northridge CA plant. But it may be a 1964. It's actually the last vin registered on the database for that year so it may have tipped into the next year. Hopefully that makes sense.
If it's a toaster shape, I would say 1964. If it's a ham, 1963.

Its a toaster shape with the stripe down it. It is a Compact I know that for sure.

Just joking, I have been looking for a canned ham Compact for several years. Yours would be built in Pennsylvania, and falls into the run in 1964 in the database.
