By the way, that's too funny that your husband said it looked like a movie set. She is a movie star in our driveway. Just a little beat up.

So excited to find so many people interested in restoring these little beauties. My husband and I just acquired a Loflyte with Vin # P11410. We are not sure what the year is but would love to know if anyone has the answer. We are in the middle of restoring. Inside looks pretty good and the outside not bad but the wood in between is pretty rough in spots. This is our first attempt. So nice to find a spot with some good advice.

We had a member who maintained a database used in this thread for Shasta campers but they have not been on in several months. Sorry we couldn't be of more help.
With that said, Welcome.
If you have questions about your camper restoration feel free to create a new thread and please post photos.

Hi there,
I joined yesterday and thought I had left an inquiry post about my newly acquired Shasta 16SC. The date of manufacture is needed to register it. The seller presumed 1973. However, it has P22219 as its VIN, meaning it was 'born' before 1971. Yesterday's post seemed to have vanished.
Also, I attempted uploading a photo and got to Flikr but stalled there. Any tips for this newcomer would be appreciated.

I suggest reading this entire thread and see where your vin falls within the vin listed. The guy who built a data base is no longer on this forum. P stands for Pennsylvania and the numbers run numerical from the factory it was built. I went through the same thing with my 57 Shasta. We finally settled with 1957 as the birth date and C stood for California. There are many more experienced people on this forum than myself, and they have helped me extensively on this process. Good luck!

Hi again,
Just scrolled through all 56 pages of VIN/birth date posts to find a more accurate date of manufacture for my 16SC with VIN P22219. Three posts reference VINs somewhat close in number from the Leola plant. From these, mine could have been built in 1972 and first purchased in that year or 1973. The trailer came without title. So, I am attempting to track down as much detail as possible to get it registered in NH. Any confirmation or helpful comments would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Dave

I would go with the 1972. Now you get to start jumping through the DMV hoops. Good luck. It wasn’t so bad here in New Mexico. I still had hoops to jump through and it took 3 months to get any results. We found her in the middle of the desert, and brought her home. She now is ours as of last week. We brought her home in October.

Hi - HELP. I've been gifted with the Shasta trailer shown. It is better than it looks, it has been sitting out under a tree for 5 years. I'm told it is a 1976. The Trailer itself is 17' long, and therefore I believe it to be a 20' trailer. It has a bathtub. I find no mention of a bathtub in any of the literature. I have sanded, gently and for a while, on the tongue trying to find a VIN number and have had no luck. My questions: 1. Stratoflyte? Something else? 2. Other suggestions for where I might find the VIN? I've been sanding on the curb side of the outside of the tongue

Thanks in advance Shasta Experts!
Curbside yes, the number on my '67 Compact was on the upper side just slightly below the top near the hitch. There is also a small illegible tag tack welded to the inside bottom of the [-channel on the street side right behind the hitch. Hope this makes sense.

Ross is no longer maintaining this thread. I recommend going thru the pages and comparing numbers before and after yours. You should be able to come up with a good guess.

link.shutterfly.com/qU8AISDVP0 My VIN number is C9524. I don't know anything about it except she has a shower and toilet closet. I would love any help I can get. Thank you Ross was kind enough to send me the database he created. I'm new to this but I'll update a few requests.
This camper was built at the Van Nuys, CA plant in 1958. Plant #1
