What is it?
I am very excited to get this baby in the garage and do a full frame off restoration. I saved it from being crushed by the OO's son 2 days ago. It's in remarkable shape for sitting since 1987. I plan on keeping the interior layout almost original, adding new modern electronics and water tank with a pump. The floor is rock solid top and bottom. The only real issue is the normal water intrusion at the pop up vent. Not from leaking (I tested it) but from moss build up and being left slightly open. Missing the wings but I have a brake and can replicate them easily. Any ideas from you folks are highly welcomed.

Nice save! I think you're right about the model - it looks like a 1500. I cant' wait to see pics of the inside and watch the restore.
Welcome!

Welcome to VTT restoguy! What a save. I wonder what kind of an IQ it would take to crush something like that? The skins don't even to appear to have any sagging at all. You'll hopefully only need to do a ceiling panel, couple ceiling stick and a closet panel. The rest looks pretty dang solid!!! Good Luck, have fun and enjoy VTT!! Soup

Great save. So I'm taking it that you got it for a good price? From what I can see it never had any wings... Not that there's anything wrong with that.
Welcome to the asylum... Let the restoring begin.

Free! And it did have wings if you zoom in you can see the lines and screw holes where they were. And I am convinced that it was a recent removal because of the paint fade line.

I've already started on them, I am going to do them in copper. Something a little different. We are also contimplating a wood grain paint job but I need to work out the details.

I'm not a chemist but I would use some sort of plastic or rubber membrane to insulate the two different kinds of metal from each other. In the beginning of my 57 Westerner trailer you can see what happens with dissimilar metals on the roof. Aluminum and copper would probably hate each other from the first moment of contact. (but I could be wrong about aluminum and copper)

Hey Mobiltec - I think you are right about copper and aluminum - I'm pretty sure they don't play nicely together. Seems like a boating enthusiast once told me that - except I don't remember why.

And that's another good reason for using aluminum or wood for the frame. Steel will eat that aluminum up in no time. Sorry, didn't mean to hijack the thread.
