Okay Kim.. duh, I feel the silly boy, you are right beside us in Ga.! Cool beans and keep your fingers crossed.. Perhaps by a "Mirra-cal" you'll be in your camper. Stranger things have happened. I'm sure of it, somewhere, possibly. And for Macnmrs,.. AH.. the 5-week club. Sweet it'n it? I’m just getting there. It will not be official until April 22nd. I’m freaking out! I won't know what to do with myself. Add that run with the Holidays and it’s like I only have to work 10 months out of the year. You guys can make it.. there is 24 hours in a day you know. :)Waukesha, Wisconsin.. Wow, it even sounds like its a long ways away. You could drive it though, just get ya a sidekick to ride along with you.. Georgia's special in the spring time. The've written songs about it. Post note: It's a straight shot. 776 miles, 12 -1/2 hours... so it's like a full day, not really a full day if you don't count getting up and driving. It like going back and forth to work 12 times. right?. I personally dont see where the problem is, but that's just me. Pathfinder, where can I find info about the rally in May?

Hi. Thanks for the link. I doubt we will have Daisy ready by then but we shall see. We only have studs up for the front and back wall so far. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

I would say that the Tetons and Bryce were our favorite stops. IF we get the camper done in time, we plan to take off in June and do it again. We did not make it to Zion, how was that? It's on out list as well as Arches N.P. And Glacier N.P. We actually didn't make it to Zion on that trip but I've been before. The narrows are wonderful, and if you all are mountain bikers Zion and Arches area are both awesome for that though it's a bit hot in summer. Glacier is amazing though haven't been in probably 20 yrs. I want to go soon while there are still some to see....I hear there aren't too many glaciers left. Good luck on your rebuild. My main advice for big roadtrips....free BLM and Forest service camping/boondocking to save money and avoid crowds.

We stayed at several KOAs and some campgrounds in the national parks, most of those do not have hook ups.

BLM and Forest Service Campgrounds are usually very rustic. If you are lucky, in teh west you will also find Army Corps of Engineers campgrounds. All of these are cheap usually $10 per night or less. But on BLM and Forest Service Land you can also do "dispersed" camping which means anywhere you find a spot that looks good. No fires etc... but just pull your rig in and set up...best part It's free.

Hiya, Shorty and I are from southern Maine. We just bought a 1971 Shasta motorhome and are embarking on a mission to restore it back to its former glory (before the rot).

Wow. Looks like there's quite a group of North Carolinians here. I'm not that far away from you here in VA. Maybe we should put our own rally together for the sometime in the future. I've had a plan to visit Grandfather Mountain for the past couple of years and just haven't made it. We have some really great State Parks here, too as well as Shenandoah National Forest and Washington Jefferson National Forest. I love to kayak and bike. "Free" campsites, like BLM, aren't as plentiful on the East Coast as they are out West, but there are inexpensive sites in the National Forests.
Martha, hitch up and travel. If I waited for my husband to travel with me, I'd never go anywhere (unless I hopped a plane with him). Do add the RV plus to your AAA. If something happens on the road, like a flat tire on your trailer, then you're covered.

Love this thread Martha, I too was wondering the same thing. Started thinking everyone was from the lower western states, surprised to see so many east of the Mississippi!
Beth, and just so no-one thinks I'm from Detroit, we live in the Ann Arbor area and have a 1958 Corvette. Saw a thread for the Great Lakes region just yesterday with something actually posted on it, before that it was sadly empty. Michigan is beautiful in the summer! Non adhesive air, I like to call it.
It would be nice to build a list of suppliers on the eastern side, it makes me cry to think shipping costs more than the actual parts! If I didn't have "little ones" I'd make it an excuse to go to CA and get vacay out of those shipping costs. Besides I'd really like to see the western states! Lived on the east coast and in the south...........time to head west.
Anyway, thanks for the thread and it's truly nice to meet everyone! If someone didn't want to give their state they could just say Upper West, Lower West, Midwest.........

Scott from NW Alabama. We camp right now in a 2010 Keystone Passport TT, but I am hoping to have my 68 Holiday Vacationer done by the fall. Unfortunately it will most likely never be our main camping trailer, but will be great for me and my youngest son.
We grew up in West GA and have done most of our camping in the North Ga mountains (still my fav place to go, not many trout to speak of in AL). Now we split our camping trips between N GA, Gatlinburg area and then try to use it for long weekend volleyball tournaments for my daughter (more of a mobile hotel room than camper for these trips). We also take the camper to the beach in Destin every year for a week and really like that too but it's a much different experience than our mountain camping trips.

Just SW of Cincinnati in the Hoosier state. 7 miles outside of the I275 Cincinnati OH circle freeway. Anyone traveling in the area and need help with anything, PM me here, I'm on here every 12 hours or even more often than that at times. Soup
