FRP or Fiberglass Reinforced Plywood will cost a chunk also. I would stick with aluminum. One of the bad things about FRP is that it tends to delaminate over time from the plywood. Then it looks horrible and there is no repair. Again. Stick with aluminum. Yes it's expensive. What isn't today???

On a trailer there are spots where trailer marker lights should be placed.
They should be screwed to some sort of strong base. Here is what I did: Cut the 1" x 2" (actual 3/4 X 1" and 1/2" ) around 8 inch long. Cut one side of them with 5 degree angle. Temporally screwed for screws ( for supporting wire ) and glued planks together and to the plywood behind them. The wire helps to keep them in place.

Hi Alex,
The word that describes your build is Resourseful.
I like how you did your backer board for the marker lights on that front curve.
Cheers,
Rod

I like the idea of wood backers for the lights. Be sure to groove for the wires and maybe a hole behind the light for tucking them. I like to connect my lights with tiny wire nuts, so need a space behind the light.
Also, I think some sort of tape over the edge wood would protect your metal from the screw heads. Aluminum loves to react with other metals.

First time I stretched the roof skin back, I figure out that the hole for top for roof ventilation didn't fit correctly. It should be 3/8 toward the front. So I stapled the front wrongly/lose. I need somehow to staple correctly at the front. For that I take out all staples and did this: I screwed a 2 by 6 at the appropriate level to two planks. Used three straps to tie the front of the skin to it's place above front windows, stapled, and stretched on back. Now the opening on top for the fan/vent is inline to the right place. Time to place aluminum side pieces. Here is a temporary wooden holder. It holds this long pieses and easyly can be lifted at the right level with angle wooden sticks I kept from the time I did roof rafters from 2X4 wood. Time for the second piece: Have fun to everybody who is restoring trailer right now! How many of you are doing it right now? And have the same project you are involving in. Oh we just switched to month of September 2023? Sorry if I am asking for too much. Alex Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters Colossians 3:23-24 NIV

A little backwards but what ever works I suppose. We usually put the wall metal up first and then put the roof with the fold over on afterwards. But she's looking good. We'll have to let the test of time tell us if sealing the plywood works. There are pros and cons to that.

Today was a big day!!! With son's help it happened.
Look before and after IWe painted the same color as it was original. Just shoot a coat of texture on 1/5 height from the bottom. There were so many in-perfections. We straitened the most dents on side metal. Now thinking about do we want a different color paint lines on middle or something. Looking through the web for ideas... Blue line to match the frame color... or different shape... angles
