Absolutely gorgeous! Your title says this is a 68. It looks no later than a 64 with the real wood and the ham rather than toaster shape. And the stove turned out beautifully. What you are doing is a prime example of what we all mean when we talk about the time and money spent on our little trailers. 5 hours on a stove. If I had had to pay for that, I probably would have left it alone! Thank you so much Hamlet! This has definitely turned out to be more work than we had ever thought but we are all enjoying the process. We will be attempting to hang the new skin this weekend.... Yikes!

So the skin went ok today. We did have one dumbass mistake; when cutting out for the baggage door, we cut the opening square instead of with a radius thus making the hole too big. Hopefully we can remedy this either by making a washer or buying a larger door. We also learned that when using a router to clean the edges, it is best to put masking tape around the perimeter of the opening and also on the base plate of the router. Of course we learned this after we had some small scratches on the skin. Overall, a very productive day. All four pieces up on both sides. Tomorrow we will tackle the roof and the front and back.

It looks FABULOUS!!!! Jody, you'll come up with a "fix" for the baggage door and it won't seem so awful to you then. I've really enjoyed watching your progress!

Jody, I would change to a square baggage door, since the corners are already square. You can get them custom made and/or buy a used one. Do you still have the old doors and frames?
And don't feel bad, everyday I make a mistake.

We added a baggage door to each side to make it easier for storage.

Interstate metals makes them: interstatervmetalandsupply.com/cat_compdoors.html Also All-Rite but they are very expensive... Check around your area, there may be a local company willing to build you a pair. The square corner solution will look much more vintage anyway. Let us know what you find.

So far Interstate is quoting around $140 per door and All Rite is $250. Per door. Yikes!!

New square baggage doors came in from www.challengerdoor.com. Very impressed with the product and their packaging/shipping. Finished the back wall with the birch today as well!
