Yeah, I think toasters started late 64 and were the norm from 65 on...
Kaffi, I wonder if someone could have re stamped the VIN? Take a very close look and double check. I think 59 is much more plausible.

IMG_1919 by kathy, on Flickr Is this a reliable indication of the year built? If so- guess I have a 1963

I guess it would depend on if the mirrors were made and immediately shipped to the trailer manufacturers for specific builds. Or possibly they sat on a shelf and grabbed from inventory when an order was received? Could be months, could be years, I suppose? At least you know your trailer wasn't built anytime before 1963, unless someone put this mirror in after the fact. Lots of unknowns but a great starting point!

No one back then let anything lie around the shelves for very long. Parts were ordered as sales came in and trailers were built. Your mirror is dated in June and this trailer probably went out the production line door in July.

Try other forms of searching. Search under "wood products" "specialty wood products" even call door manufacturing companies to see if they have a source. And yes... 200 miles. More for some people. Just plan a quick little getaway and have fun with it. Well, since my brother makes custom cabinetry for a living...I asked him again for any resources ( he had previously called a few of his vendors without any luck). Guess what? He had a new catalog in his shop that we perused and we found 1/8" birch !! ( Industrial plywood Co.) Can get it delivered in a day. From a town not too far away ( Reading PA) Here's what they have: White birch -rotary cut - 4X8 sheets- 3 ply- $55 each Natural birch- rotary cut- 8X4 sheets- bending ply- $33 each Are they appropriate? I like the rotary cut - as it actually looks like a lot of the panels in my Shasta. I am thinking I go with the Natural? Cheaper of course is nice- but the bending ply sounds like what might work best. Your opinion? So happy if this works out!! Kaffi, did you end up going with the 8 x 4 bending ply?

Kaffi, did you end up going with the 8 x 4 bending ply? Hi Well- ends up they did not have the wood that was listed in their catalog. Ugh. I was very lucky though- found a door manufacturer near me who got me 1/8" birch within a few days. I originally bought bending ply- poplar- and at first was so happy, but after shellacking it I did not like the look. Trying to sell that now- what a mistake What did you end up finding?

I'm going down the same road. I spent 6 weeks waiting on a special order from Columbia Forest Products, and after it finally arrived (late and damaged) it wasn't at ALL what they had quoted me on, AND it was pretty floppy. The face of it was veneer strips, not just one rotary sheet of veneer. So now they can order me a "pretty" face panel, but only in the bending ply. GAH, why is this so hard??!!

I went to the local rv store- and asked there. He referred me to where I eventually got my panels- I was so happy !!!. Did you try that? I feel your pain- it was so frustrating. And I now have 10 sheets of poplar to try and sell....ugh. Good luck!!

I'm going to try their 5/32" Purebond plywood. It has one good veneer face, American made, and $53.20/sheet. They sent me a quote, which I take to Home Depot's Pro Desk, prepay, then wait for the item to arrive and hope it's what I need! Wish me luck!

When I built my teardrop, I didn't want any seams in the walls since it was a woody and had to drive to West Ft Worth and I am 45 min East of Dallas to get 4 x 10 sheets of Maple, a couple hours each way with traffic. Of course my truck broke down pulling out of the driveway but I wasn't going to be stopped and got them home (at $125 a sheet!!) loaded in my S-10 Jimmy during rush hour, that was a scary trip! Persevere!

Columbia Forest Products' 5/32" Purebond was great. Looks great, took the shellac great, and bent around the front top radius just fine.

Since the question has been answered, I will post this for any others who are having trouble and are budget minded and have a Home Depot near them and want something they can see before buying. It is 2.7mm "Utility Plywood". This is just a hair thinner than 1/8 and I had great results with it. It's located with all the other plywood but you may have overlooked it, I know I had. I thought I would give this stuff a whirl since here in the Dallas Area it is only $10.98 a sheet. The veneer face is in the Birch family of woods and varies so results will be different from store to store. Some I saw patches in and some had a kind of bland pattern (No pattern), the 3rd store I had I found some with great grain and no patches. It really wanted to get blotchy so I used some stain prep first and it worked great with Minwax Gunstock and three coats of Poly. I wouldn't hesitate using this again .
