Ok, I have read tons of threads, read the ongoing list of sources, called and drove all around my county and beyond but have had NO luck finding 1/8" birch here in SE PA. What I did find was someone who sells 1/8" cedar as well as oak paneling. I have not given up- but am just wondering if I can at least match the color of a difft kind of wood to my existing birch? I know the grain will be off- but I just thought I would ask your thoughts/experience. If I shellac a difft kind of wood paneling will it in anyway resemble the birch I have up? I am rehabbing my 65 Shasta SC. Thanks all !!!

I generally use maple instead of birch for most cabinetry projects. It has a very similar grain and can be fairly easy to stain and finish match.
Others on this forum may have better experience with plywoods used for wall paneling.

Finding 1/8" maple might be difficult as well. An option might be to buy birch veneer and 1/8" plain plywood and make your own. This seems reasonable for small sections.
I'm actually going to make all my own 1/8" birch plywood, but I've got the space and equipment to do it, so may not make sense for you.

I'm not sure a 65 Shasta has birch. Most trailers of that era had faux wood or a lighter blond... Do you have any photos of the interior?

Kinda looks like Maple. Oak will be way too grainy for this. Pine is also a good match for birch or maple. No matter what you use, amber shellac will bring it to this color and sheen. It's the grain that you want to try to match.
I'm with Vikx though. Normally a mid 60s trailer will have Ash in it. You lucked out with either maple or birch for some reason.
Keep looking Kaffi. It's got to be around there somewhere. Have you called ALL of the lumber yards within 200 miles?

I'll let you know if I have any luck. The places I went to (local lumber yards) even called their contacts for me and NO ONE knew of any birch. I have not given up!!

Search under "wood products" "specialty wood products" even call door manufacturing companies to see if they have a source. And yes... 200 miles. More for some people. Just plan a quick little getaway and have fun with it.

It sure looks like birch to me and older than 65. The only Shasta I have with birch is the 57 1500, Butch. Sundance had the same interior. My 57 Deluxe had ash. It was more the shape of yours. The 64 SCS has ash as well.
Yours has wings, which arrived in 58. They could have been added to an older trailer, tho. The Deluxe had wings that had been added. Either that or it was a very late 57 model.
Shellac is a very good way to blend different woods. Our Corvette has pine walls, birch cabinets and mahogany doors and drawers. Nobody has ever noticed.
As Larry told you, maple would be close, some pines and possibly poplar. Poplar tends to be quite plain, not a lot of pattern. I've found some birch on the back side of floor underlayment. That is 3/16 tho and won't work for the ceiling. Also, you might try asking for door skins. They are 1/8 and some yards may not think of them when you call.

Well, since my brother makes custom cabinetry for a living...I asked him again for any resources ( he had previously called a few of his vendors without any luck). Guess what? He had a new catalog in his shop that we perused and we found 1/8" birch !! ( Industrial plywood Co.) Can get it delivered in a day. From a town not too far away ( Reading PA) Here's what they have: White birch -rotary cut - 4X8 sheets- 3 ply- $55 each Natural birch- rotary cut- 8X4 sheets- bending ply- $33 each Are they appropriate? I like the rotary cut - as it actually looks like a lot of the panels in my Shasta. I am thinking I go with the Natural? Cheaper of course is nice- but the bending ply sounds like what might work best. Your opinion? So happy if this works out!!

Hmmm...will need to do some more research. My brother looked at the wood and said it was birch for sure. It has a bathroom (toilet only). I thought it was a 16SC. Will keep looking for info. THanks

Yep the wrap has too large of a radius to be 65. They were pretty much in Toaster mode by then weren't they?
